Now that I've got a new job, I am free to use whichever operating system I like. So I set my ThinkPad X230 with Haiku use and let's see how it performs as daily driver.
Feel free to skip the introduction to see the OS in action.

INFO: All captures done on my test ThinkPad X230 itself at 15 fps. The interface is always perfectly smooth.

I like the Haiku/BeOS experience in general but the technically most interesting aspect to me still today is the filesystem with automatically indexed attributes usable for powerful search features and basic database-like functionality available for apps.

My best friend has (yes, has) one of the first BeBoxes, seeing the interface did hit me with a bit of nostalgia.

As soon as someone successfully ports Firefox to it, I will consider it.

You mentioned that web browsing is part of your daily activity, but that is one known area where Haiku falls flat. Without hardware acceleration we won't be seeing a mature browsing experience.

What real world task our using it for? Why development of language?

The drawback is the lack of security when Windows ran with administrator privilege by default. Its unsafe and MacOS and Linux have never had it. It would be desirable to implement sudo in Haiku OS to mitigate the possibility of malware and unauthorised user abuse compromising the system.

I had to give up on Haiku OS simply because it does not support external monitors/HDMI output for laptop GPU :(
