FAQ's:
Q: The computer displays to the external monitor fine but not to the computer screen.
A: If your computer displays to an external monitor but will not display to its own LCD, then your most likely looking at an LCD or LCD Cable issue. 'Reseat' the cable by unplugging it from the motherboard and the LCD. Then plug it back in to insure a proper connection. If that does not help, then replace the cable. If that does not help, replace the LCD.

Q: I tried all these tests but nothing helped and the computer wont even display to an external monitor.
A: If you have tried all these tests and have not been able to identify the issue, and the computer would not display to an external monitor, then your most likely looking at a motherboard issue. It should be replaced. Let me know if you would like any assistance with that process :)

I'm trying to move the easier hardware stuff there so that I can focus on the more in depth troubleshooting and diagnostic videos here :)

I appreciate the simple and systematic way you explained the problem and possible solutions.
I had this problem of no display while computer was starting alright. I tried the solution of removing the RAM and putting them back firmly. It worked like a Charm. Thank you!

2 tips: 1. Replace "Lenovo" in your title with "Toshiba", since you're focussing on a Toshiba.. ;) 2. When plugging in your laptop to another screen, hit Windows key +P and then use the cursor down keys to switch to 'duplicate screen', 'extend', etc.. to see if you can get the other screen to come up. Thanks for the vid tho.. I'm hoping to check some things out on a Lenovo laptop within the next few days.

I have an unusual situation. In addition to not working (but obviously being on), whenever I plug an external monitor in, the laptop screen DOES work, but for less than a second before going back to black. If I unplug the monitor, it once again flashes and reverts to darkness.

Fixed my Lenovo ideapad 3!!! Would not operate after my daughter dropped it. Followed the fault finding procedure in your clip. The removable ram board had been damaged. All going now!!!
Many thanks!!!!

Thank you. My Ideapad Gaming 3 wasn't displaying any image - on screen or via HDMI - nothing was working and I was about to bring it back to the shop. On your advice, I removed the RAM and put it back and that solved everything straight away. Wouldn't have tried that without watching this.

My nearly new Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 had this exact issue. Powering on but nothing on the screen. I had added a second stick of ram and a bigger HDD. Removing the new stick of ram and re-seating it seems to have fixed my issue. Powered it back on and so far running sweet. Many thanks for this video, you have a new subscriber.
