The arc on this thing feels like the same distance I got when friends and I in kindergarten would be trying to piss for distance.

It'd be cool if its explosion counted as arc damage, allowing a Helldiver to equip the arc armor and negate its self-damage.

I think the resupply only filling half its capacity is yet another glitch that plagues the previous punishers also, weird if its not unintended

I love all the hate this guns getting because it means it'll get buffed. It's my favorite in the game. It stunlocks medium enemies and one shots Scout walkers. No primary weapon can do that. Plus it's really satisfying to see your shot hit a group of enemies. Once you learn the trajectory it becomes second nature.

I feel this weapon is very cool idea and just needs some adjustments to it's damage, radius, collision, and ammo in some regard to be a good weapon. (I personally find it annoying that the slugger can break crates open but not a plasma grenade launcher)(I also wish it wasn't a punisher weapon variant and instead was it's own class of plasma based weapons)

The projectile inherits your player velocity. You move left - velocity vector gets added to the projectile and so it goes a bit left as well, same when going right.

IIRC all weapons have this, its just this is the first gun where its properly noticable due to the difference between the main projectile velocity and walk/dive speed being *relatively* low, so it has time to go sideways before impact.

Also small sidenote, the gun performs very well if you have an elevation advantage, hitting multiple targets becomes trivial and you get far more value out of your ammo by doing this (at least for bugs).

If you take a machine gun/stalwart/arc thrower style horde focused support weapon then having a primary that can kill chargers is good, also you have a pistol if you get closed in on

MAJOR TIP - The size of the AOE explosion on impact is dependent on the distance to the target, meaning that the explosion will be larger at longer ranges (it gets much larger than chargers) and its weird because I tested it in a mortar style by lobing shots straight up and then by shooting at the same thing from the same spot but aiming normally and the explosion size seems mostly the same in both so it must be based on the distance you are to the target not the distance the plasma ball travels but in either case this gun is one of the better support weapons in the game yet you get it as a primary. It just has a massive skill cap and a hard learning curve but I'm starting to love it now that I'm using it correctly. Just stay behind your team and lob shots in front of them when encountering bugs and you can decimate them. Also wearing a shield helps and allows you to shoot at almost point blank range which is helpful when dealing with crack butterflies aka hunters pouncing on you and help to not die but even 1 foot closer you'll still die so you gotta be careful. Its god mode against chargers too and if paired with an arc thrower its an amazing combo as long as you're comfortable with your secondary since the arc thrower or sg8 plasma can't be used point blank

It made me feel more naked than when all my guns glitched away.

Yeah I agree with other peeps in the comments - the gun is a unique weapon, not just another shotgun/autorifle, which is great, but it could use some tweaks - slight buff to range and explosion, fix the ammo, allow it to destroy bunker doors and possibly nests/factories as well and it could be a cool weapon to pair with Stalwart (which I actually find pretty good after the spawn changes to Terminids to gun all hunters down for you + your team)

Iteresting tidbit that could be useful
It seems to have extremely high stun/stagger value, and is actually able to stunlock Hulks even from the front
They won't get pushed around or something, but they'll completely stop and be unable to shoot

This new warbond introduced more electric/plasma weapons and electric armour. I won't be surprised if this paves the road for the introduction of a faction of weak-to-plasma/electricity enemies down the line. Perhaps high-tech ones with force shields.

i mean it seems like both its strengths and weaknesses are pretty inflated. it has its uses but can seem pretty lack luster at time. i really like the stunlock though

It could really use:
-faster projectile velocity
-less drop
-maybe a couple more shot's per mag(10 doesn't seem bad)
-fire rate? I put a question mark because I haven't used it myself so idk what its like in that department

From numbers standpoint it's... not bad at all, quite the contrary. Has similar effectiveness against medium bugs as the slugger, if not slightly better in some cases, has _the same_ rate of fire, has _more_ ammo reserves, staggers the hell out of everything it doesn't kill, and the explosive nature comes with all of its usual benefits (deals with striders head on, splodes soft spots faster than the slugger, can splash past armor of chargers etc.).

The downside is that it's ass as a personal defence tool against bugs swarming you, and it's ineffective over longer distances where slugger is a sniper in disguise. One could even say it's a _situationally_ strong weapon, so not ideal for solo play, but you can bring one of these to a full team to no detriment.

I kinda wish they leaned more into the plasma launcher in primary slot though and gave it bigger splash for less rate of fire. I'm one of those people with tens of thousands of kills on my fighting lion in Destiny 2, so this kind of primary is something I could love to use if they leaned into its identity.

Gun's half decent, just needs a mag buff or a damage buff. It's more of an explosive primary that is high risk high reward.

It has a very different play style and a huge skill gap but one of my favorite’s to use. The cc it’s great, ammo is plenty, and can lob shots safely behind cover. Love that it can lead patrols in the wrong direction or let you sneak into a base by causing a distraction. Only thing I want is two more rounds. So many times I need just one more to finish off that last rocket devastator. You have a secondary slot for a reason, use the auto pistol to kill the little bugs and bots. Use a shield to prevent that splash damage on a close shot. And use a quasar to shoot anything you can’t stun lock.

ya know what i reckon would be cool? if they made it so it split into multiple smaller orbs when it denonates
and up its ammo count ofc
