Windows 10 Xbox game bar screen recording 'Gaming features aren't available...' FIX

I was unable to record my screen using the Xbox game bar screen recording feature. This is what I did to fix it. I don't have an Xbox or even an Xbox online account, and this worked for me - hope it works for you too, if you were getting the same error.

It’s crazy that we are in 2021 with millions of videos and online schooling and yet modern computers don’t have normal, user friendly, screen recording feature as a standard.

The game bar actually detects the window opened in background, like if you are desktop or file explorer, it won't let you record. But the moment you open your browser and press W+G it will let you to record video.

if this doesn’t work for u, don’t search “game bar” on the search thing. hit the windows button and g at the same time. that worked for me and if the video didn’t work this could also work for u. i also didn’t have the xbox companion open in the other window

When I closed the Xbox console companion the recording stop idk why but pls tell me how I turned it back on

Well this video didn't helped me at all but I actually fixed it on my own.
If you are facing the same problem as mine then you are seeing the world's most helpful YouTube comments.
Go to Start> Settings> Gaming
Then go to Captures tab
Then toggle on "Record in the background while I'm playing a game"
Voila!
Now the record option is avail!

I had just learned about this game bar this year and began using it, and then all of a sudden it stopped recording video, and only records a blank screen, records the audio just fine.

Initially this didn't work for me. I pinned the Game Bar record menu, highlighted the Companion App, and then switched to my browser window I wanted to record and that worked. Thanks for your help!
