VIRGIN MEDIA ROUTERS & BOOSTERS SUCK! How to Extend a Virgin Network (TP Link AC1750 & Superhub 3)

In this video learn how you can improve dead spots in your house and spread the wireless signal. All you need is an Ethernet cable routed to the central place of where your signal needs boosting and a TP LINK AC1750 router. Although most new TP Link routers will work the same.

This may work with other routers such as Sky etc. The principle of making sure both routers have the same SSID's (network names) and passwords are the same.

I disabled Wi-Fi altogether and then added two BT Mesh disks (one upstairs and one downstairs both on Ethernet) and it's been excellent since.

Great video. Brilliant result for me. But just worth mention: The latest version of IOS seems to choose a router based on signal strength BUT also on security strength. Until I switched the TPLink router to better security (AES), my IPhone kept going back to the much weaker signal Virgin Hub 3

That was really useful, even 4 years later. TP have made their part easier, but it transferred very well. We were 'lucky' as we inherited a lot of unlabelled RJ45 cables in the walls so we didn't have to put one in, but we had a lot of plug and test to get the right one.

I left the 2G with the old name for my existing wifi products to connect to. Seems to work out.
Stress test on Monday when we work from home.

I need to edit this: I found on another youtube video that I need to disengage the automatic channel selection and make sure that my VM router and the TP router use different channels. Without that I was pulling 1 MBS, not I get the full 350.

Did this 18months ago, we jumped from BT, we had ADSL from the get go, so around 22+years as customers but we got sick of the unreliability so jumped to Virgin. Virgin gave us a Superhub 3 as suspected (M500 Fibre) and had already read loads of stuff about the terrible wifi on these routers! so grabbed a TPLINK router. All I can say it it works and works well :)
