Check out our first drive of the Hyundai Bayon. It’s the new small crossover SUV from Hyundai...that's Hyundai which already does the Kona small crossover SUV. So why does the Bayon exist? Mark takes it for a first drive to talk you through it…

Brings to mind Homer Simpson: “These are the people who saw an overcrowded marketplace and said, "Me too.”

At 189 cm I actually did not feel cramped in back seat. Also one of few cars offering good driving position without a b-pillar rubbing against my shoulder.

Well, it certainly isn't pronounced "Veyron" Another SUV! It's testament to your comedic talent that you're able to make these reviews as interesting as you do, Mark. Keep it up fella!

Your boot size numbers are wrong. Bayon is bigger 410 litres

idk about other locations, but in my country Kona suggested only in 2 variants: 1.0 L with manual transmission and 1.6 L with automatic transmission. But Bayon - it is more engines (1.0, 1.2, 1.4 L) and with 1.4 you have options with manual or automatic transmission, which sounds more suitable for me, since I don't need 1.6, but I want an AT.
And yes, due to 1.2/manual combination Bayon is starting more than 20% cheaper than Kona. And it looks a bit better, imo :)

this is great stuff from Hyundai. in fact all manufactuers should have five or even six B segment crossovers, all with varying front grille designs and cabin air vent placements, just to make purchasing a new car as difficult as possible for all involved.

I wouldn't want another cup of tea when I already have one.

What a fine automobile. I think the Citroen C3 Aircross and Renault Captur are still better the comfort end. You are so right about the B-SUV segment, car companies always put sporty, young and active people in the adverts, but most of them are bought by over 60s just looking for something easy to get into and drive. The Volkswagen T-Cross seems to be the best at this.

This was one of those cars that I saw in the street before I knew what it was and I was so confused thinking I was looking at a weird import Kona. Then I went through the crisis you did at the start and carried on very very confused!

Dissapointed that its only a 1L engine across the range. the 1.2 in my i20 sucks and i wished this oone had something a bit better

Good to have a real handbrake but no prize for the lack of a spare.

03:24 Fancy Key?? My 13yr old Laguna has keyless entry, no handbrake and push button start.
No idea why in today's market that's still seen as "fancy"

It's a real shame that Hyundai has used the spare wheel shaped recess to house the battery, from bitter personal experience of canned tyre sealant, I simply wouldn't buy the Bayon for that reason.
