2021 Land Rover Discovery first drive review: still the best seven-seat SUV around?

preview_player
Показать описание

This is the Land Rover Discovery, and the 2021 edition has been treated to a little nip and tuck to keep it fresh against seven-seat SUV rivals like the Audi Q7 and the Volvo XC90. There's a subtle styling refresh, a new infotainment system and a revised engine lineup,
but as Steve Fowler found out, not all of the changes have proven to be entirely positive. Find out more as we venture on and off road in this first drive.

Can't put leather and soft touch on all surfaces. Sometimes you have to go with plastic. Always kills me when people complain about the materials on the lower part of the doors. For instance the use of plastics or carpet. Rather accidentally kick either of those surfaces with my muddy boots than leather. What'cha think about that?

I like the styling of the Discovery. I had one for a far while my Range Rover was getting serviced. Going from the supercharged V8 to whatever engine the Disco had was a eye opener to say the least. It drove relatively smooth and was nice for the day, but I wouldn’t buy one.

At the beginning of the video the drivers side front corner of the car had damage on the bumper corner. Is this what happens when you try out a new car?

Great video, I have very late disco 4 and am noticing that low milage landmarks for example the prices have increased over £6k now . Regards mark

It's a shame this generation just lost the touch on a good product even with this Restyling doesn't appeal at all, they could do much better than that. I think that the strategy is clearly turned to the Defender, leaving this waiting for better days, it's sad☹️

Weird how so called 'profession' car reviewers don't understand the reason for hard plastics in certain areas of vehicles.
Many steering wheel centres are hard plastic - because of the airbag design. Door bins? Show me a daily driver that doesn't have some kind of mark of the door bin 'material' @carwow take note too!

Anyone who thinks this looks good anywhere past the front end is out of their mind. Disco 4 is perfection and they'll never do better.

I had my new Discovery (MY21) for a week and it broke down with an electrical fault in the new mild hybrid system. Red warnings, ‘stop the car safely’. Less than 90 miles on the clock. Gutted.

This guy could very well be Alex's (Car Throttle) father. He must be.

the waftiness was always the main draw of the disco for me

Thank goodness we are no longer pretending this car is anything other than a vehicle for projecting, suburban, middle class parents.
