recently got a 420 code for bank one in my 97 grand marquis and I was wondering if the egr system may cause this code to set or does it just mean the convertors are clogged on that side ?

Hello sir, so on the emission monitors and lets say a catalyst monitor it will run under certian conditions and if it passes it says complete but what if your cat. goes bad after it is complete, it wont detect it until it runs another monitor on the cat is that how it works?
