I used to do that in class. In the old days when gis were thick, hard, scratchy and uncomfortable. It made a nice snapping noise when you did your punches right. Then I got into street defense techniques and realized I wasn’t training to punch hard, I was training to make noise. It’s like learning Jijitsu relying on grabbing opponents gi collar. What happens when your opponent is wearing a thin tshirt and theres nothing to grab for leverage? Now I know, avoid schools that focus on looking good. It’s like armies that march well with shiny boots and precise movements but can’t fight (like Russia or North Korea).
