I believe the I-10 bridge in Lake Charles, LA is even steeper and that area is also very populated with petro / chemical plants.

The Mississippi is VERY large and wide down in lower Louisiana by the delta. Large container ships and barges have to go through there. That’s why the bridges down in that vicinity have to be tall and long!

This is the Sunshine Bridge over the Mississippi River on LA Hwy 70.

this is in an area called Cancer Alley. a youtuber by the name of Tyler Olivera did a documentary about it and why its called that and it's really interesting
(not surprising hint: it has something to do with the oil refinieries)

You are coming into Donaldsonville, LA. I am a retired Locomotive Engineer and worked a job in Donaldsonville that switched all those plants.

My husband is down there working in the first refinery you passed.

The Mackinac Bridge is another. Michigan to the U.P. It's steep, it's high and the two center lanes are steel grates, you can see down through the bridge!

I nominate the canopener bridge over Gregson St. in Durham, NC. Now *that's* a dangerous bridge... if you're driving a high-profile vehicle and take no notice of the multiple warnings that you're too tall to fit under this particular bridge. followed by the Drive of Shame to the truck rental company or your employer to explain that you're an idiot.

Here are a few more Bridges to consider ; The Eugene Talmadge Bridge over the Savannah River in Georgia. The Commodore Barry Bridge over the Delaware River and the Royal Gorge Bridge over the Arkansas River in Canon City, Colorado. By the way, the Royal Gorge Bridge held the world record as the highest suspension bridge until a bridge over in Asia surpassed it.

There is a top notch bridge contractor down there called Coastal Bridge.

For those of challenged by steep, high, narrow-laned bridges, I'd probably travel at 50 MPH in slow lane with slow vehicle blinker lights on. It would take me about 2 minutes to go over it, I would count each second!

There’s a really steep looking bridge in Japan, I think it’s called Ohashi Eshima or something like that.

Too bad you never got to experience the joy (and terror) of driving over the Huey P. Long bridge! That bridge you're driving across is the Sunshine Bridge built in 1963 under the administration of Governor Jimmy Davis. At the time it was built, it was considered to be a "bridge to nowhere" because the road didn't connect to any major roads on the East bank of the river until after the bridge was completed. It was considered to be a political boondoggle by many in Louisiana!

Last time I drove I-10 in Louisiana there was a cop about every 10 miles just waiting for someone to be speeding.

@01:23 had to laugh at that . BR has the 4th largest oilrefinery in the world. So yes your guess it right ;)

How about the Rainbow Bridge in Port Arthur TX?

Try the Huey P Long that’ll get your attention, especially in a truck, right lane only, the curb is black where trucks have been rubbing their tires.
