Akers Louisiana
This is the Manchac Swamp Bridge that carries Old Hwy 51 over Pass Manchac which is a waterway that connects Lake Maurepas and Lake Pontchartrain.. It's obviously just a normal bridge, it just looked steep as hell due to an illusion that I'm guessing was caused by zooming in on it from so far away..

Heading back home after seeing my Doctor in Metairie, we usually stick to 55 but decided to go this route for the hell of it. The bridge is called the Manchac Swamp Bridge and it carries Old Hwy 51 over Pass Manchac, which is a waterway that connects Lake Maurepas and Lake Pontchartrain.. It's obviously just a normal bridge, it just looked steep as hell due to an illusion lol..

Yes, the bridge to the left is the same I55 that has been in the news since Monday, after foggy conditions lead to a fatal 158 car pile-up that killed 8 people. In fact, this is literally the EXACT SPOT, where the accident transpired.

Whats scary is the fact that my mother and I were headed south, to Metairie that very morning. Thankfully we were running late, so we rolled up to the bridge about 30 to 35 minutes after the pile-up occured..

The epicenter of the accident was actually in the northbound lane.. However, they had to block the southbond lane off as well, due to a smaller pile-up of cars. My guess is some debris was yeeted into the southbound lane, causing one or two drivers to lose control, and since the fog was so thick, another pile-up occured.

Old Hwy 51 Northbound in Akers, LA about to cross over Manchac Pass. I-55 is the bridge to the left. Illinois Central Railroad (CN) Manchac Railroad Bridge open on the right.
