I was a member of opus dei for 19 years as a celibate numerary. A number of former members gather every Friday, along with some members and interested people, to have a Zoom meeting that is then uploaded to Youtube. It is mostly in Spanish, and yuo can find it as "Agora, coloquios en libertad". Thanks for taking the effort to make this information available for the English speaking community. I can bear witness to the difference between what we were told to live (a large number of rules, norms, practices, etc. ) and the Statutes that the Catholic Church had approved in 1982 and 1983.

You forgot to mention the recruitment of members as young as 14.5 years old…kids, encouraging them to act against the advice of their parents. At 18 they have to sign their fidelity to the principles of Opus Dei and one of the premises is to sign a will to leave everything to opus dei. I was a numerary member for 15 years.

Yes they do violate the secrecy of confession by forcing you to talk before or after the absolution of the sacrament.

I have to say that there are much worse things that happen to supernums: 1) SEDUCTION of children. They target kids 13-21, have them "whistle", tell them not to tell their parents, and they disappear, and never see or hear them again 2) breaking up marriages -- in my case they haven't let me see my kids (now talk too) for 7 years, nor let my wife talk to me for 7 years. Why? because I disapprove of Opus. My wife says her "vocation" to Opus is more important than her marriage vows. They'd been tearing my marriage apart for six years. Others have had the same experience.

Yeah, taking your kids and destroying your family is pretty serious. But the spiritual damage is not calculable.

lol They just ignored Cardinal Hume. Also, they love bomb the bishops, coopt them, give lots of money to (bribe) them, and dig up black mail on them. Prelates are afraid, the few who would do something. NO PRELATE WILL EVER touch Opus. They are PR masters. Opus Diaboli delendum est.

I don't know if this battle can be won. The arguments are on our side and they are very strong, but I know the Catholic Church.. It is my home and I love it with all my heart, but I know that the wheels of the church grind slowly.. Sooner or later God will intervene to eradicate evil from his flock, but it usually takes a very long time and during this time there will be many victims, individual people who are still smaller than the institution for many church officials. Nowadays they usually do it when criticism comes from outside - through journalists, law enforcement, media, non-public organizations, etc.
