Direct hiring Authority should be used for only really urgent needed positions to be filled. However, many agencies nowadays including the VA are using this Direct Hiring Authority as a trick technique to eliminate veteran's preference and rule of three to avoid violating the law. Sadly that many veterans already have a hard time to find jobs in civilians world after finishing their military services but some of our government hiring agencies. On the other hand, try to abuse the Direct Hiring Authority to avoid veterans preference.

Will the agency not process my application or review my resume until the job posting is closed even if it is a direct hire authority position? I just applied for a criminal investigators position and it doesn’t close till next year.

I was told by a tsa employee that the government doesn't want people with any experience in the job they are applying for what so ever. Any truth to this?
