I love that the "women can't do metal" thing is still such a big argument, when so many of them will Stan Spiritbox or Jinjer or Lacuna Coil in the same sentence, or even better yet Arch Enemy

yeah, i agree that the extreme negativity is harming the hard rock/metal scene. theres also a weird pride around being a fan of metal which is odd. like youre just listening to something you didn't actually ACHIEVE anything. you aren't tougher, cooler, or more advanced if you listen to metal. i've seen metal heads laugh at people because of their tastes, which is so lame, you just hit play on your itunes, man.

"B-But Metalcore isn't Metal!"
And then they fail to explain why Metalcore doesn't count as Metal music.

Ah yes, the classic "mainstream attention = hate" formula. Fandoms are so stupid.

I would suggest a list of bands that metal elitists actually like, but I’m becoming more and more convinced they don’t really like anything.

As a proud metalhead AND professional wrestling fan, I do apologize for the fringe sects of my fandoms. Not everybody sucks...as much as they do...a lot of us suck...just not as much

The definition of what is metal for the elitists is so narrow that Black Sabbath might be considered not metal enough for them. 🤷‍♀️

Kittie. Anytime I watch a video that discusses Kittie, there are always men in the comments talking about how much they “suck.” I’m sorry, but Kittie fucking rocks! Misogyny is still alive and kicking in 2024 apparently.

Oh god, I'm glad you brought up MIW performing at Wrestlemania. IWC nerds might be even worse than metal nerds if such a thing is even possible.

The complaints about Poppy transitioning to metal remind me a lot of the hate Job For a Cowboy got when they first came on the scene. They started as a deathcore band, and when they followed up their first EP with a more death metal album, rather than take solace in the fact that the band was playing a style they like, the elitists complained that JFAC had no business playing death metal when they were previously deathcore and that it “tainted” them. I don’t even really like JFAC, but I found that to be so bogus.

Also, surprised there was no mention of Bring the Noise with Anthrax, considering it laid the foundation for the eeevil nu metal.

What I’ve learned from this list is that metal elitists have no idea what they want in their music.

Even as someone who isn't a fan of Black Veil Brides and Motionless in White, I can't for the life of me imagine losing sleep over them due to petty hate or for not being "metal enough".

I'm looking up Poppy on Spotify right now because this is the first I've heard of her. Wow each song in her top 10 have millions of listens. Some almost reaching 100 million. Definitely going to have to check her out tomorrow because I love genre blending metal.

Saying bad omens got their big break last year is kinda astounding because they’ve been popular for years
