“Rock & roll conspiracies have fascinated fans for decades, with some of the most notorious theories surrounding iconic figures like Paul McCartney and the band KISS. One of the most enduring legends is the "Paul is dead" conspiracy, which claims that McCartney died in a car crash in 1966 and was replaced by a lookalike. This theory gained traction in the late 1960s as fans began to uncover supposed clues in Beatles songs and album covers, such as the infamous Abbey Road cover, interpreted as a funeral procession. Similarly, KISS has been at the center of bizarre rumors, including the claim that the band's blood was mixed with ink to produce the red cover of a Sports Illustrated magazine. This sensational story adds to the mystique surrounding the band, which is known for its theatrical performances and elaborate personas. These examples illustrate how rock & roll conspiracies blend myth and reality, captivating audiences and fueling discussions about the hidden narratives behind beloved music legends.” (Perplexity)

Can't remember where I heard it, but I keep thinking of the conspiracy that Kurt Cobain faked his death and became Rivers Cuomo of Weezer. It's ridiculous in concept alone, and I keep thinking of it just because of the sheer absurdity. The mental image of the man who wrote "In Utero, " one of the darkest and depressing albums in pop culture, faking his death and then writing I LOOK JUST LIKE BUDDY is a transcendent form of comedy.

The Sports Illustrated thing.

Given Gene Simmons’ massive ego, if that particular theory was true, you better believe he wouldn’t shut up about it; for him of all people to deny it is pretty damning for the theory.

what's hilarious to me about the paul mccartney is dead conspiracy is that there'd be such a massive concerted effort to replace paul... but then when john lennon croaks they're just like, whatever mate, we didn't need him anyway

The "Paul Is Dead" conspiracy is even weirder than described here. Back in the late '60's, there was even a documentary/investigative report aired on TV that examined all the "evidence". It really helped hype the story, because the "journalist" didn't do the obvious, which was to interview Paul himself. BTW, the Abbey Road cover was supposed to be evidence because Paul was the only Beatle who was barefoot -- which obviously means he was dead. Now, it seems ridiculous, but I was a little kid back then and a huge Beatle fan, and this whole thing freaked me out.

I'm surprised that this video never addressed the theory that Marilyn Manson had several of his ribs surgically removed.

My favorite conspiracy theory growing up in the 80s & 90s was that Glen Danzig was actually Jim Morrison

I've heard some absolute nutcases say that every Papa Emeritus is actually one guy.

I still think one of the more stranger conspiracy theories i've heard is that Dave Gahan Depeche Mode's lead singer is a Vampire because he slept in a coffin-shaped bed at one point during his lifetime

I'm surprised the "Andrew WK doesn't exist" theory didn't come up!

A quick search will find some breakdowns, but essentially it's the idea that's he's always been played by multiple people. It gets wilder from there but would be hard to concisely put in a video I suppose.

According to conspiracy theorists every living musician is actually dead and every dead musician is actually alive

Mental health is a serious issue that shouldn't be covered up by these stupid conspiracy theorists as a way to either cope or seek attention. You're not doing these artists favors and you're only making yourself look like an idiot. I may not listen to Soundgarden or Audioslave but I can respect Cornell's vocals and his contribution to the grunge scene. As for Chester well if you couldn't tell I'm a huge LP fan and I will continue to listen to their music and to keep his legacy alive. RIP Chester and Chris 🤘

A new one includes the band Fontaines DC: They are an irish band that for a few albums have told how much they despise the gentrification of Dublin and lost of Irish spirit in the capital city, well, now people are seeing their manager is literally connected to a company that buys old buildings to make trendy bars in the Dublin City, so people are saying that because they two are connected that Fontaines DC is a Psyop. I dont know what to think, its so OUT THERE.

Fun fact, the Luke we see in this video is actually a clone of the real one, when the original Luke decided to give up metal music and return to planet Neptune to be a hip-hop sensation
