Do men or women cheat more? #shorts

Which gender commits infidelity more? I get a lot of comments, often with a sexist topspin, implying that women cheat more than men. This is unequivocally false. Men cheat more across the globe, partially due to strong evolutionary incentives discussed in other videos. The only culture I can think of where women even might cheat more is the Himba, and that’s a culture where the men have multiple wives, so it’s not a great example if you’re trying to prove women are less inclined towards monogamy. In the West, where my viewers are, I am not aware of a single well-designed study that shows women cheating at a higher rate than men; and this is true across most of a century of research. I’ve seen somewhat higher prevalence stats like around half of men cheat, a fourth of women, and lower stats like a fifth of men and a tenth of women, and I’ve seen stats both in between and outside of these values. Different methodologies and samples yield different rates, but they all report a higher prevalence of infidelity in men. Some of you will say that women are just more likely to lie, but that’s like saying "women commit more murders they just don’t get caught as much." The gap is too wide for that to be plausible, your hypothesis is untestable, and it goes against what we’d expect from our evolved biology anyway. Plus, a lying gap would be surprising because these surveys are totally anonymous, they would have to be pretty paranoid to lie, and what research we have on gender differences in lying suggests women lie less than men. #shorts

In my opinion it does not matter who cheats more as it does not make the very act of cheating any less wrong. So the best thing is to punish cheaters regardless of the gender.

Not justifying it, but I believe this question can be researched in conjunction with scientific findings. It makes sense that a male in a primate species would be more likely to have more mates than a female, so why would it be unreasonable to assume a male human would be more likely to cheat? My coworkers and I had a discussion about this just yesterday- the concept that a man may cheat more than a woman but it wouldn’t mean anything to them, no significant emotional attachment and purely hormone-driven. On the flipside, women could be less likely to cheat but more likely to repeat the offense with the same person due to them having strong emotional bonds with a fewer number of individuals.
Purely hypothetical, not trying to start any fights

I'm with you on everything but the women lie less then men maybe on the small stuff but when it comes to something big with actual repercussions I've noticed women are much more likely to lie but that's just my personal experience being raised around and predominantly friends with more women then men

I don't know about women lying less, for fun at our work 15+ years ago when things were more open to talk,
We did a poll of when you go to the loo do you look at the paper. All but a handful of the women in the workplace said they did not look at the paper.
They either lied or have dirty bums!
