Todays video us a little different! its an in-depth look at all of the fuji JPEG settings. With go through each and every setting in detail and take a look at what effect it has.

This has enabled me to better understand what the fuji weekly emulations are doing! so that I can now tweak them to my personal taste.

Goughie, I've been trying to understand these settings by sweating over the instruction manual off and on for years. I ended up ignoring most. So, this was a really useful video for me. My biggest puzzle you answered straight away: Do these settings apply to raw files or only to jpegs.? The manual does not say (I've just been looking for it). You told me 'Only jpegs for most'. This is the best advice on Fuji photography I've ever found. It means to me that, since I run the raw of any decent pic through a photo editor anyway, I can forget pretty well the whole lot. Hoorah! Now I can forget about all this micro blah without feeling stupid or a bad photographer. I suppose if you depend on immediate jpegs you have to do the work on the menus, as you have so helpfully done for us. Personally, I'd prefer that Fuji dropped all the jpeg settings and made their cameras more user-friendly, lighter and cheaper. I've liked and subscribed. If you'd like to rewrite the Fuji manuals, I'll give you a glowing reference for the job!

Great Video ! Regarding Clarity, my workaround is as follows: I save my recipe with clarity. When I am doing streetphotography I switch to the CL burst-mode which is set to 5fps. This will disable clarity and I am not in a risk, missing a great shot. If I am not in a hurry and can take my time for composition (architecture, museum etc.) is switch back to single-shot mode and clarity will be applied.

it is important to note that while many of the modern fuji cameras have the ability to add color shift to the white balance, very few allow you to store that red/blue value as part of your custom simulation setting. this was fixed in a firmware update on a few models (x100v, x-pro3 and x-t4) but is still missing from many models, such as the x-e3. since many custom recipes rely on white balance shift, it can be frustrating if your camera model doesn't have the ability to save those values for each custom sim.
