And Justice For All Guitar Lesson (Part 1) - Metallica

In this And Justice For All guitar lesson video series, I will show you note-for-note how to play this classic by Metallica.

This is one of the most requested Metallica songs here at GL365 and for good reason. There are tons of killers riffs in "And Justice For All" along with some cool harmony guitar parts and a crazy solo by Kirk Hammett.

We will be using standard tuning just like Metallica does on the original recording.

I will teach the entire song across two video lessons. In the first lesson I will show you the clean guitar intro, the harmony guitar parts of the intro, the killer transition riff we all know and love, along with the verse, pre-chorus and chorus.

As with most Metallica stuff, the rhythms can be pretty challenging and require you to really know how the song sounds before trying to put everything together.

I will start the second video lesson performing and teaching Kirk Hammett's guitar solo. This solo starts out with some melodic playing before Kirk ramps it with some lightning fast licks. He then makes it to sort of a bluesy section and concludes the solo with some death defying guitar runs that move down the fretboard at a very fast rate.

After the solo, I will teach all the remaining parts of the song.

Was a freshman in high school when this album came out and a couple of years into playing guitar and never thought I’d be able to play anything off of Justice. Probably one of my all time favorite metal songs and top Metallica songs as it mixes a very melodic sequence similar to what Iron Maiden does along with heavy metal riffs.

Ive been playing guitar since my teenage years (37 now) and never really spent to much time trying to learn other bands songs. Until now. I love Metallica and especially the justice album. This to me is one of their greatest songs ever written. You are a great teacher and I have this lesson pretty much down now. Ive been watching and re watching this video for about 2 weeks now. I struggled at first, then it just came to me and my fingers started cooperating with me and I got it. The only thing Id maybe like to see in your vids is a 4th view of a more close up shot of your fretting hand. Because everyone has their own way they fret and hold their hand and sometimes its hard for me to see what your doing. Crazy for me to say this but even after all my years of playing, I still dont know how to read music or know what the names and positions of chords are lol Ive always just played by ear until I feel it sounds close. Thats another thing I like about your vids, you're constantly naming everthing you're doing and Im learning new chords. Anyways sorry for rambling! If I were to ask for a lesson I think Id ask for something from the reverend horton heat or nekromantix. Been getting into that style lately.
