Great video! I currently have a 1405 that was already on a mid 70's mild/stock low HP 454 chevy engine in my 69 Chevelle. Ive tuned it the best i can with a vac. gauge and it starts fine and idles well, but on the rich side. Now that its streetworthy, it feels like its lacking in the "umph" department from about mid range (40mph @ 19-2100 3.08 ratio) throttle on up, and tends to stumble from a light rolling start to WOT. The other case, recently has been a strong raw fuel smell and stalling when breaking to take turns, which clues me to a float/jet issue. There is also the inconvenient issue (at normal operation temp 185-190deg) of pulling in for fuel or a 6 pack at the store and turning off the engine only find it seemingly flooded/hard to start moments later, but when it fires off, its as if nothing was wrong, no flooded carb burping, exhaust smoke or smell?? i dont hear it peculating.. and i have electric fuel pump reg. @ 5 psi. I think i have a dirty carb issue, which is a simple fix, but im eyeing this 650 AVS2 and have read alot of good things. Im hoping the 650 would be adequate for my stock 454 engine and would hopefully eliminate this warm hard start as well as the mid range flat face issue. The 750/800cfm's are releasing in the near future and was curious if the 750cfm would be of any advantage vs. the 650. I read that 650 would be better for cruising application, and the 750 would really have the extra juice at high rpm for racing. Im more of a cruiser that gets a heavy foot once in a while.

Flashlight does a good job of showing the tiny annular booster holes.

Someone recommended I use this on my own 87 Camaro with a 305. Is the 650 CFM going to be too much or should I return the carburetor and get a 500?

I ordered the 1906 avs 2 for a 69 351 windsor, 268 high energy comp cam, edelbrock performer intake, factory exhaust manifolds
2 1/4 exhaust system, pertronix distributor, 325 rear gears. Do you think this carb will work with my set up? Its going into a
67 mustang 4 speed .

How do you adjust and know when your fuel bowls are at optimum level??

I have an AMC 390 bored 30 over, comp 268 cam, heads have mild porting, Edelbrock performer intake and headers. Should I play it safe with the 650 or go with the 800?

Does the avs2 Edelbrock Carburetor come in a 600 CFM?

Will the chrome fuel line made by Edelbrock fit with the manual choke models? It looks like the cable clamp under the fuel entry point will be in the way.

I'm wanting to go back to carb (to replace old-lots of miles TBI) so seriously looking at 800 CFM AVS2, #1913. Have 90 Chevy dually, ECLB, 4X4, manual 4 speed, for towing. Dropped in a 97 Vortex Gen VI and had rebuilt last summer. Also plan to go to 5 speed manual soon. Any feedback on the new 1913? Thanks

I am thinking about getting this for my S-10 Blazer with a 350 that has a Lunati Voodoo 268 cam, 185 cc Promaxx aluminum heads, Edelbrock air gap intake. Do you think the factory jetting will be good for this combo?

I know i’m late to the video but a response would be greatly appreciated. I have a 454 in my 82 c10 was thinking about dropping this AVS 2 in for the throttle response as my current carb has seen better days and picking up any better fuel economy is always a plus with a bbc. Think this would work?

I am debating between the avs2 Edelbrock and the summit Holley like carb. Both have annular discharge. But summit carb has eye lit so u can check bowl levels while adjusting.

Thanks for your review. How close was jetting for you out of the box?

From the comments below, sounds like we might have a similar setup. Mine is 355 w/ S/R Torquers, XE268H and air gap. Just got off the phone with Edelbrock tech and he says this carb is a good fit for mild performance... Had a 1406 (which they said was a misapplication) but I was heavy handed and ruined a jet and was not able to save the carb body. Getting the credit card out now lol. Hoping this carb might be a better performer and easier to get to work right!
