We keep a big black snake in our barn for years. His name is Ralph. We don’t feed him but our barn is enough for him to take care of. We still have an occasional mouse but it doesn’t stay for long.

Do you have enough eggs to keep up with the snake babies when they are all adult?

If you think about it though you're basically making a deal with the snake to feed it eggs and if it's full from all the eggs it wants then it's not going to go after the rats and mice at all because it's too much work and if theirs ever a time she is hungry, in my experience over the years the next place she'll head is the most confined cage the chicks are in. The more you let her eat the more she will take she's a serpent that's what they do. I like your video though and you're nicer than me.

In my experience, I would still secure the trough an make it varmint proof. Your inviting trouble in my opinion. but that's just me.

That's a great strategy. But you are correct, the guinea hens will grow up and probably eat the snakes around the area. Thank you for sharing. :)

It’s all good till they choke out a setting hen and eats her eggs. I’m set on keel mode. 😡

Would the snake get under the wire cover you have

It would probably be wise to relocate the snake snakes and chickens or guineas do not mix I certainly would not be feeding that snake I would most likely relocate the snake to another area because if that snake gets tired of eggs you’re going to be in for a world of hurt. Then you’re going to have to kill the snake. The rule on my homestead is no snakes allowed around the chicken coops my kids already know if you find a snake around the chicken coop to kill it if the snake is found anywhere else that is allowed to live
