I need 30 minutes to slowly wake up and come to terms with whatever flavor of existential dread I woke up with that day.

He is spot on! I've noticed the randomization of activities he seals of and the ADHD tendencies it has created! I'm definitely working to change this.

I was diagnosed with ADHD as a kid because of a traumatic childhood. From what I was told by doctors is that adults who show symptoms most likely developed it as a child but were never diagnosed and were able to manage it until a stressful event/significant change in life. So it’s not likely for an adult to suddenly wake up with ADHD. They already had it. Having a sustainable life for the most part can mask it.
Just adding in my thoughts for those who are wondering if they have it since I struggle with ADHD and I’ve been aware of my disorder, causing many hardships in my everyday life with self destructive, impulsive, irritable, inattentive behavior since I was 12. I’m 25 turning 26 next month. There are ways to manage it and not everything works because our personalities differentiate however, it’s important to be aware and educated on the matter, but most importantly to develop self acceptance. That has helped me to not kick myself even more when I’m down, wondering “why am I like this?” It’s gotten much better for me ever since discovering the reason to keep pushing forward so as long as you keep using that restlessness we tiresomely have, marching down the obstacles of life will eventually lead you to your “why”.

Listening to this and experiencing it are very different! I had a terrible day and I felt it physically rather than this manifestation of mind. It’s so powerful this science!

Damn, it's comforting and concerning that so many people can relate to this.

He's so right about computers and attention deficit disorder, I noticed that 20 years ago when my job required me to be on a computer doing work and taking care of customers at the same time. You literally don't concentrate on any task for more than 5 minutes without being interrupted. It's so unhealthy for the brain and nervous system.

Doing this religiously is a life changer to neural connectivity and habit changing

As a person with ADHD, I have to consciously try very hard to just wake up and complete the most simplest tasks in a conscious order to the point that I have to talk to myself to give myself directions like “ok I’m going to reply to this email and then after that I’ll do the next task” etc. I have to literally tell myself not to get distracted or multitask and it’s very difficult.

The first hour honestly sets the tone for the rest of the day. I wake up, lay in bed, write down 3 things I want to achieve, and I do relax. Get out of bed at my own pace, and enjoy a coffee. People who wake up, rushing, jumping onto task after task, they're constantly restless spirits to me. At the end of the day, the point to life is just to live. You, grand goals and schedules, and whatever great empire you're set out to build will be erased in about 2 generations.

I definitely get this because if I sleep in on a workday and go in late, I’m usually a lot more tired that day. If I just get right up at the time I’m supposed to and go to work, I have a lot more energy for the day.
