Auction Scion XB - The Unappreciated Hatchback

While at an auto auction, I came across this Scion XB Hatchback. I used to think these were kinda goofy looking but they have grown on me over the years. This one is even a manual. Why is this car here at a vehicle auction? Is it worth restoring? Watch until the end of the video to find out!

This was sold as the toyota bb in japan. In Japan, they came with a small truck bed as an option. People love to modify them along with other jdm cars. I have seen youtube videos about them.

We have one with 170k miles, only done fluid changes and brakes. OG clutch. Even transported a crown vic whole rear axle assembly in it.

my grandma used to have one of these with a 5 speed manual. she drove the crap out of that car but once the miles started racking up that Scion had seen enough. It still ran and drove but it needed a lot of repairs to get it back on the road. I believe she donated the car and bought a newer Scion that she still drives today. they're not the prettiest looking cars but they're pretty reliable if you ask me. they feel like you're driving a toaster version of a Toyota Corolla. 😂

Reminds me of the 2000s Toyota Echo. Dashes were in the center and to see your speed you'd have to turn your head 45° 😂

Not only do I own the C4 vette like you showed in an earlier short, but I also have one of these and they certainly are fun. Unfortunately mine is with the 4 speed auto but when modded these things are actually pretty fun, slow car fast.

Omg this is my daily driver, same thing, with the 5 spd manual. The engine is bulletproof, not going to win any races but they last forever.

I love hearing someone refer to the dash cluster as a clock that's an old British statement or slang for speedometer and I only heard that ever on top gear so dude you are cool in my book

little known fact, this is the best car ever made. I'll never not own one and they can become whatever you want. slammed, lifted, tastefully lowered racing you name it. such a beauty

Owned mine from new. It has become a toy project now that i am married and have a daughter. Rebuilding the engine with turbo. Same color also lol. These are just so fun!

My grandfather swears by these cars has owned 2 and used them as work vehicles. Probably has a million miles between the 2. Not the best looking but great work horses.

I'm a 1st and only owner of my 05 xB same Onyx Blue still running with 248k+ miles at my 40 years of age. Never been stranded and saves me gas, not to mention all the extra room I have for tools, groceries and drum set. 😎🤘

I bought my XB brand new in 2008 and loved it. Used it as a rural mail carrier. Put well over 200, 000 miles on it before it was hit and totaled in 2010. Just bought my second 08 XB last year to replace a 2010 Ford Fusion that was again totaled in an accident while I was working.
It's a very versatile vehicle; as a mini SUV to move in, as a traveling car or as an everyday car to commute back and forth to work. Just wish it got better gas mileage than 19 city/25 highway.
