Dude.... I've been on and off the vally whirl pool... disassociation man... it's an isolating place of the mind... and valium gives me the breathing space to just feel comfortable being alive...
I've been off them for about 5 years.... just got given 6 by a mate who could see my manic highs and lows were starting again...
And I'm right back to wanting to blanket myself in this feeling of comfort 😅
It feels nice in the beginning....
I'll be sure not to get used to this ... because it's too easy to fall into the crutch of avoiding the core....
I'm taking this as a sort of... pause from the chaos... breath a bit and then get back into the crazy head on!

Hi Loz welcome to the chat :) It's rough you got dp so young. The only things that did anything for me were 1 valium (diezapam) 2. sertraline 3. staying busy and not stagnating. There are multiple causes of dp and different things work for different people. Trust your own opinion over anyone elses though about what meds sit with you right xx

I have taken vallium daily before for 5 months then quit, withdrawals were a bit crappy but not as bad as people said.. I often these days take them for a while then quit, It's like you get used to withdrawls.. never take vallium for more than a couple months maximum please give them a break x

I've been on vallium for 14 years and 1 bottle of 30 last me for 6 months. Addiction is not always going to happen. Also it does not sedate it. Just relaxation and euphoria

I have chronic depersonalization for nearly 20 years...so used to it now don't think it will have go away although intense fitness workouts is the closet thing to a cure/feeling alive again, no drugs have helped just exercise

I was taking Diazepam 40mg a day for just under a year and just stopped, stupid thing to do as you can seizure. It was horrible, for a whole week I felt like shit not being able to sleep, anxiety though the roof with depression and sweating throughout the day and night. A friend said that I should of had a can of lager or a glass of wine while I was going cold turkey as it can make it safer and stop seizures. Never again.

I've never tried medication to alleviate my symptoms, but I think it might be worth a go. I'm 16 and have had dp constant for over 7 years, so I think it won't be a bad idea to try something new. Do you have any recommendations for a small starting dosage of medication. I don't really want to take any hardcore drugs, I'd rather start with less sympton effecting drugs. Thanks

You might want to look a bit further into dependency of the brain to benzodiazepines (valium). Look at the Ashton Manual. Look at Benzodiazepine withdrawal stories on Youtube or the benzobuddies forum on the internet. I was on valium for one year and this is the scariest drug ever. I’m now two years off valium and I’m still having withdrawal syptoms. Take care
