This IS one of the easiest ways to secure a line to a tree. The other way is very similar…create a large Bite in the rope, pass the bite around the back of the tree, then push another Bite from the load line through the first bite, add the Marlin Spike and pull tight.

Nice. Also, learning to tie running bowline will work too but I like the toggle method better because the friction helps make the line more manageable.

This is also very good for adjustable pot gangers. Forget tying knots and rotate hanger.
