Back in the day, when I purchased my first home to live-in; that was Miami in the early 1990s, first mortgages with rates of 8 to 9% and 9% to 10% were typical. People will have to accept the possibility that we won't ever return to 3%. If sellers must sell, home prices will have to decline, and lower evaluations will follow. Pretty sure I'm not alone in my chain of thoughts.

Safe housing shouldn’t be a luxury. It’s insane that people working full time can’t afford somewhere to live, what is going on in our country?!

Mortgage rates are currently at an all time high since 2000(23 years) and based on statistics on inflation, we might see that number skyrocket further, a 30-year fixed rate was only 5% this time last year, so do I just keep waiting for a housing crash before buying or redirect my focus to the equity market

Since Biden took office, there seem to have been more unfavorable results in America. These results include effects on the markets, such as price declines and sharp increases in inflation, as well as bank failures. I wonder if the sudden increase in interest rates will help value investors or if it would be wiser to stay away from the stock and financial markets for the time being.

People working full time jobs and still homeless…come on England why are these families on their knees? It’s disgusting and heartbreaking. Makes me so sad 😞

British children forced to live in tents and hostels while illegal immigrants are given accommodation in luxury hotels. It's absolutely sickening how this country treats its own people.

Council houses should never have been sold off in the first place. Here in my town ex council houses are selling between £290-£300k! If you were one of the first to buy in the 80`s you'd be laughing but at the expense of todays working homeless

There’s something diabolical about the term ‘working poor’.

This report really shows the reality that this issue is affecting all types of people. Sick of seeing those silly comments where people blame single mothers for their choices, because this report shows there are father and couples who are going through the same thing. This is affecting all of us!

Imagine being the ones that had to live in tents knowing that some people got to live in a hotel. ugh.

It really hit me when they spoke to the boy. I saw myself in that clip. Me and Mum were evicted from my childhood home when I was 14, this was during the credit crunch as it was called in 2009, as my estranged Dad stopped paying the mortgage for a year without warning. Back then, we had to rely on Enfield Council to rehouse us and council housing was in a shortage. We were given temporary accomodation only a few miles from my house almost immediately and luckily only had to move once more into another temporary accomodation before getting a permanent council place. It took 8 years to get a permanent place but at least it was in the same council area. I found that tough growing up and it really scars you for life but at least it was proper accomodation. I can't imagine what it is like now for these people, it is just not fair! What does months of uncertainty in a hotel room or a tent do to someone!!! These people and really everyone are being failed by councils and the government and it is an embarassment. Why should someone have to uproot their family 100s of miles away because housing is so unaffordable?! These people are just trying to live their lives, its not fair! This problem won't be fixed unless councils can buy all the empty homes cheaply and start a mass social home building programme. Right to buy without replacing the council houses sold was a colossal mistake.

The gov sold all council stock and didn't rebuild the stock, not surprised this situation is what it is. Where did the money go?

This is so disturbing. It is insane that no feasible housing is available, despite the parents working full time - so sad, especially for the kids growing up in such unstable environments 😢

Yet if you cross the channel illegally you'll be instantly given food, money and accomodation without speaking a word of English. It's disgusting.

They’re all homeless because private rents are scandalous. Something needs to be done about these landlords. Why is a single room in London £700?! Edit: I live in a cheaper part of London, £700 is the starting point.

Could just weep for all. No child should ever live this way, especially as their parents are working so hard. Truly hope they find their forever homes

@RishiSunak and the Conservative Party are to blame. He gives Asylum seekers and illegal migrants priority and decent homes.

This is why we should refuse these illegal immigrants because we need to house the people of this country first.

If the government stoped paying £7 million pounds per day on illegal migration it would go a long way to providing accommodation for these hard working people. This is a humanitarian crisis and a national disgrace.
