Can't explain why, but changing the burr has helped solved the problem (a few times so far on different machines).

My grinder wont work all of a sudden no coffee grind coming out and beans just kina jumping around in between the burrs( i have my machine for lil over a year and we use the machine 2 to 3 times everyday) . I watched this video(and another related video), ordered new burr online at breville, I also bought separate breville grinder at best buy coz i can't wait for the burr, took the part from new grinder and tried in my machine and yes it's working now. The old part was dull. Now I have back up grinder. Maybe it's good to buy those parts ahead of time . When I just got the machine, the motor broke coz there's a small rock in the coffee bean package. Now most of the time, I use hand picked pea-berry coffee beans and take time to check the beans before pouring in the hopper. Enjoy ur coffee everyone, and thanks for ur video.

I just had a similar problem happen. Grinder was working but not grinding. Messed around a lot and finally got it working by expelling A LOT of old caked up grounds from the upper chute. Accomplished by using a skewer and pipe cleaner up the chute and then ground another batch. Hard clumps came out with the new grounds.

Did you find another solution to this besides burr replacement? I’ve only had mine for a couple of months

Hi, does anyone here knows who to judge the Breville Smart Grinder Pro burr has worn out? How do we know which one? Upper or lower burr?

I did figure it out :) why this is happening. The thing is a little more complex. Two Barista touches SES880 aren't the same one is more modern and one is older. They look super similar. But one does have an Inner grind-screw 6-star with wider channels and older do have 5-star grind-screw with narrower channels. There is a notch a few milliliters higher in 6-star so you cannot switch grind-screw star from one to another or you will not be able to screw it down from 5-star to 6-star, and 6-star will be loose on 5-star. Also grind bucket as you are showing, there is a very slight micro-millimeter change ever so slight inner diameter change. that is tuned for more modern 6-star grind-screw SES880 Barista touches. The issue is that they have the same serial numbers in their inventory. So if you get a new one you won't know till you try. But for example, older models are shiny like jet-black and new baristas are mate, like truffle-black color. Next to each other, these grind baskets are indistinguishable by the naked eye. you can try dialing those settings, even in a factory can be some old parts. So lottery.

Verry Interesting, have the same issue as in the Beans dont grind but every thing looks and measures the same...

Yet to solve the issue. Orical and a Touch and burrs are the same, so will swap and see if I get a change in behavour.

I guess i can tell you why this is happening, i just figured out. It is because the plastic housing doesn't fit straight anymore and has an angle that's why it needs more force to grind the beans. It probably got worn out due to the forces that happens in the grinding process. That's also why the new burr clicks in louder than the older one.

If you remove the wire handle, you can turn the upper part and change the grind height. Because you didn't keep the camera still, I couldn't see how they're originally set, you kept waving everything around :)

Is your grinder still working ok? Thanks for posting! Did a deep clean on mine and still the same issue, the beans just jump on top of the burr and don’t come down. Fortunately I got mine a few days ago and breville sending me a brand new one.

Did you check if it would grind on a coarse setting with the old upper burr? I'm having this issue--grinding coarse dispenses and completes grinding just fine, but can no longer get espresso-level grind to emit. Would very much help me to diagnose what the solution is! Thanks

Same issue but I bought my machine few months ago

I'm finding it stops rattling and starts grinding if I change to a courser grind. But then it alternates back to rattling for a few seconds, then grinds again. It sounds like a cog inside skipping over teeth, which it definitely shouldn't be doing. I tried contacting Breville support, no response yet.

Tengo exactamente el mismo problema. Súbitamente dejó de moler bien y saca muy poco café. Buscare la pieza de la Breville Barista Touch

The same thing is happening to me except mine is a Miele and you can't take the grinder apart.

In my case I misaligned the burr and it wasn’t locked at the proper position!!!

Damn same issue now, my barista express is now 1yr old. So I need to replace the whole? together with this black hard plastic and the circle metal with teeth?

Maybe your burrs are blunt? Grinder burrs needs to be at sharp condition and usually needed to be replaced after a few years depending on usage.
