In this ASMR/bedtime story video, I tell you about Buddhism: what society and beliefs were like in Ancient India, the life of Siddartha Gautama, how Buddhism spread in Asia, the differences between various traditions (what are Theravada, Mahayana, Vajrayana, Zen, Tibetan or Tantric Buddhism...), and a lot of terms are explained as simply as possible, like Vedas, Karma, Middle Way, Samsara, Tantra, Mantra....

I practice meditation and have studied Buddhism as a lay person. I'm so happy you've decided to do this. I can't emphasis enough to everyone how much the Buddha actually uncovered about the human condition. Its not armchair philosophy, it actually is an applicable practice the Buddha discovered himself by choosing to find out what reality was directly via meditation and the cessation of the ego. His discovery of "no-self" has changed how I view the world for good. The fact that there is no solid or discernable "I / ego / self" within us, the fact what we consider to be "the self" is always changing and morphing, the fact that, when we look hard enough, that there is nothing worth clinging to in life - no external pleasure will last forever and we will forever be chasing more external pleasures to replace that desire we have for more and more - has made such an impact on me. One day I would like to stay in a monastery in Thailand or perhaps Nepal to try and at least attempt the path to nirvana.

Please have a look at the book 'The Mind Illuminated' as a good guide. The author intertwines neuroscience and Buddhism as a guide to how one may reach true peace.

As a Buddhist i was so happy to see that someone had taken the time out of their life to give attention to something i see as important. A lot of people in my life make fun of me for my choice in religion, they say i'm weird or they just simply laugh. So in consideration of that idea i want to say thank you for making this video😊

Him: This is the right time to relax
Me watching this 10 minutes before work: Absolutely

Setting us up by a river, and telling us “This is the right time to relax.” That does it for me, releasing all the tension and even the anticipation in my body—thus moving me from trying to listen to allowing the sounds and words to slowly pour over my soul. I love “This is the right time to relax”!

I am so happy you recorded this. It must have taken a lot of time to research! This is a part of history I am so deeply interested in (especially the spread of Buddhism to China and the rest of the east), and I wish it wouldn't put me to sleep... :)

I usually watch your video... specially space related....and as a Indian and follower of Hinduism...i just wanna say it's my dream to read each and Vedas... before the age of 25
Right now i hardly gets 2-3 hr/day..due to studies..but it's my dream... And that's the main reason why i studied Sanskrit for 4-5 yrs..

Amazing. Over 2500 years ago, one man alone had all the answers. One guy, born a prince, and especially for his time period! He somehow realized the one true path to end suffering. He knew. And it's so simple! Number one, of the most importance- Do not harm or kill any sentient being. If it feels pain, it deserves mercy. Unconditional love and understanding, compassion and empathy for all beings capable of suffering. No sexual misconduct. Rightful thought and rightful speech. Never say anything that might cause harm. Allow unsettling thoughts to go in and right out. Live only in the present. I just wish more people would have caught on by now! The world could essentially be a utopia if we just let it be.

Unlike many ASMRtists, your voice is so relaxing. Most of them think, they would make ASMR videos just by whispering or tapping the things around themselves XD
You are so calming and you always teach me something. You don't steal my time, you are such a good man. Thanks for all your videos ❤
