Fake & Toxic Foods in China 2023 Final Edition: Endless Death Loop of Mutual Harm in Underprivileged

Unfortunately, this "mutual harm at the bottom" phenomenon is prevalent in China. For instance, chefs don't eat the food they cook, bun shop owners don't eat their buns, and food factory workers don't consume products from their factories. These individuals often act selfishly without considering others. Some even harbor delusions of getting rich overnight and, lacking moral scruples, resort to fraud and deceit. Unbeknownst to them, if everyone acted this way without effective regulation, society would descend into a chaotic and dangerous state, leading to harm for all, with no one spared.

The fact you already made zeveral videos about toxic food in China and rarely reused footage is telling of the extent of the Problem.

Adulterating flour with talc and gypsum was a tactic used by unscrupulous bakers in Victorian England. To see it re-emerge in China in 2023 is horrifying. Those poor consumers!

I live in NYC, we still have some Chinese restaurants here getting busted for using street rats, skinning them, and cooking them into some meat dishes. Back in the day some Chinese restaurants got caught using stray cats as well, and using dog meat in other dishes. The majority of Chinese restaurants here are good and don’t do this here due to our stricter food safety laws, but there are a few bad apples that continue to feed the bad stereotypes about Chinese restaurants here.

I remember in 2009 walking into a Chinese restaurant by my old apartment and seeing the guy walking around the kitchen barefoot, touching cooked food after touching money without gloves, picked his nose than touched a dish. And then I saw grab egg rolls that were on the floor for several minutes and put them in the fryer for an order. Needless to I did not order anything there and I reported them to the food inspectors. A week later they were shut down for good meaning the health inspectors found many more issues than just the complaints I made.

Food standards in Mainland China are consistently disgusting. Here is a very real account from Guangzhou:
Chinese friends insist on this low-budget open-air buffet style restaurant beside a hotel. Readers should know this is before Xi's "clean your plate campaign" and it was becoming notorious for big shots to order way too much food and leave over half uneaten. (as social status trend).
While waiting for Chinese friends to choose their dishes, the least worst thing was seeing a massive, I mean a cat-sized rat just climb right up the wall, stop, look at the food cooking and scurry off. That was the least worst thing.
One thing I'm repulsed by is how all the dishes look kind of 'greyed'. What I mean is there was a kind of similar color despite being ordinarily very different colored foods. Also odd was that (example) 5 different things had little clumps of sticky rice but normally those dishes don't have a little sticky rice mixed in.
While they eat I try to find an out of the way place to have a smoke. I go around back and there is a kind of dark trail behind area and just as I light up - here comes a small parade of cooks from the hotel, each carrying an armful of silver trays, food trays.
Before I could think "OH nooo.. they are 'recycling' the leftover food from someone else's dinner..." they all see me and get a near 'comedy movie' halt and super guilty 'caught' look on their faces. Mind you, they weren't even being that secretive as they fairly obviously went to the back door of the crummy 'rat kitchen' and dumped out the contents in bins and then did a procession back to the hotel's back door.
It made sense why all the food at the cheap restaurant had this same 'mixed color hue' and why there was other foods mixed into the other foods. It wasn't a 'recipe' but just what happens when scraping off plates of food.
Chinese themselves don't seem to have high standards though. This restaurant, like many others, it was street seating and obviously near a manhole or vent with the worst sewage smell ever. You'd start gagging at the rotten toilet stink wafting around but all the Chinese just gobbled away, making wide-open chewing noises as they ate just fine, not at all bothered by the smell of rotting hot sewage methane gas in the air.

I lived in China for 2 years. Rich Chinese buy imported food as much as possible because food safety problems are everywhere ranging from unlimited use of chemicals & pesticides, heavily contaminated air/water/soil, improper cleaning/hygiene, etc. The sad part is a lot of food from China or manufactured in China is being sold in the USA. I even see it in the school federal lunch program in the USA! Do not eat anything made in China and avoid processed food because very difficult to tell where it was made. Your health will thank you

I have visitors over from China and when I took them out to chinese restaurants here in the US, they always say that the food in China tasted much better.

Yes, better because of all the additives.

"Waiter, there's a fly in my soup. What's it doing in my soup?"
"Looks like it's doing the backstroke."
Seriously, I wonder if the toxic food, air pollution, poisoned groundwater, etc. has anything to do with the respiratory viruses which have taken hold recently.

It's come to the point where as a tourist, it's safer to starve than to eat eathing sold in the streets or restaurants. And now that even supermarkets have been caught selling fake foods/ingredients it's a risk to even make your own food if you don't know what your buying.

For me the issue with the fish is not that they weren't gutted it's that the fish were ALIVE.

I stayed at a few AirBnBs in Los Angeles county, California at homes owned and lived in by people recently here from China. It amazed me when by the 3rd Chinese home I stayed at how filthy the kitchen and grounds outside always were. I mean amazingly nasty.

There is this local chinese restaurant well known for their egg noodle soup. During rainy days lots of people would order this dish. Unfortunately, one time someone we knew made a maintenance to their electrical grid and had to pass through their kitchen. The owner was adamant not to let them through but the repairs could not be done. So reluctantly he agreed. Lo and behold, the floor which was colored red was now covered with thick black substance and sticky while rats the size of cats are scavenging in their work table with all the ingredients. Now, when its rainy day, love to order but the risk is too great.

What amazes me is how so many people just honestly don't think this is bad. it's not even that they are corrupt but they are just completely ignorant. How anyone could honestly not understand that cleaning a wall with a broom and then washing it isn't a wok that will later be used to cook food is truly sad. If the employer has to educate them not to do it then these are people who lack common sense.

the cooks urinate in the kitchen sink, do not wash their hands after they take a crap, food served to the customers were infested with fly eggs/pig intestine worms. The spoiled rotten chicken, beef, pork had been washed in bleach to kill the smell. Lucky customers would immediatly vomit what they had eaten saving themselves from food poisening

I don’t understand how the government are not on high alert when their own people are being poisoned, especially with their population decline. If I lived in China, I would be so scared to eat food I didn’t cook or grow. That’s not a good way to live on these day and age.

They just dont seem to care about there fellow man.
From "aunty mobs" stealing farmers crops while he tries to harvest to using oil from the sewer to cook with in restaurants its disgusting.
You should be ashamed of yourselves.

I always wondered how American based Chinese buffet restaurants could offer so much food at such a little price. Stopped eating at Chinese buffets over ten years ago.
