Here in the Philippines, the government recently just caught a warehouse full of vegetables illegally imported from China. At first they wanted to give it to public but after the laboratory test came out they had no choice but to just dispose all of it instead. The government also gave a public health warning of imported vegetables that illegally came from China that are currently mixed in our public markets.

Sadly many Filipino commenters are accusing that the government is only doing all that because they didn't get any tax money from the illegal Chinese imports.

This blows my mind. Carrots are one of the cheapest vegetables in the USA. We wouldn't even think to fake carrots because... why? To make an extra 20 cents a pound at the cost of killing people? How greedy and heartless do you have to be for that to make sense?

David, I am also not a pro-CCP guy, but here in India, we also have the same problem. More incentive to fake rather than be truthful.

The farmers have separate produce for their own consumption but it's ok to sell poisonous produce.
