Audi Q5 SUV review - CarBuyer

Despite a firm ride and limited off-road ability, the Audi Q5 is still a very desirable car. Aimed at the Land Rover Freelander 2, it has the build quality and refinement of an Audi saloon but the practicality and space of a larger 4x4, so it's an excellent compromise.

Drove one of these for a daily driver for about a year and a half. Pros: Everything but gas mileage. It handles well. Super smooth. Decent power (2.0t is more than enough). very comfortable. looks expensive. Even the little things like phone syncing. It syncs when you get in, shows you everything on your phone then wipes clean when you step out of the car. This car has all the tech a person needs without any of the extra bull. Amazing car.

I never understand why the boot lip is an issue, a lip is good so when you open the boot your shopping don't fall out all over the floor, if you can't lift stuff over a few inches of lip, then you should go and lift a dumb bell and put some muscle on that skinny arm!!

The guy who disliked is probably a Q7 owner

That thing with the pedals is true. I went for a Sportback A3, first time I´ve had an Audi, and the first time I was going to drive it I totally missed the clutch pedal, lol...nothing that you can´t quickly get used to, coming from BMW driving for a long time, you feel the differences, specially the steering feeling, totally different from BMW´s. But overall I am enjoying it very much, germans really are the only ones who know how to make cars.

Yep, I remember seeing them demonstrated and the strength in relation to a comparable BMW or Mercedes was astonishing. Designed to withstand a collision with a moose at 50 mph.

+Joseph Blowington That is how expensive it is in the UK - still depending on spec. The lowest spec is £40K for a Q7. The lowest spec Q5 is about £36K. Compare that to BMW X5 which is a minimum of £50K or the X3 which is £43K. These are all 'new' prices.

I drove from London to St Andrews at the weekend and it was a joy 500 miles at between 70-80mph most of the way and got 39.2mpg in the 2.0 tdi sline. I am yet to hit 45mpg even driving like my mother, the best i get is 43mpg.

all the models of Audi around 2010 are flawless. A4 to A8 and Q5, TT, R8. But I don not like the new models.

i think it really depend on what you need.
For daily use 2.0T Q5 is good enough for a small family and save some money to get a weekend car?

@burkerow I'm not so sure about that one! I own a 2013 BMW x3 and have driven the q5 many times. They seem pretty equal to me, just depends on your personal preference
