Recently it was time for me to upgrade cars. I looked at X5, Q5, GLC, and GLB.

Surprisingly I ended up getting the Mercedes GLB. I LOVE their new interiors. I wanted the updated GLC, but they hadn’t entered production yet. ☹️ Next time. 🤣

I used to be a huge VWAG fan, but the last Audi I had was 🗑️ and hopefully avoiding some issues going with the Mercedes. 🤞🏻 Time will tell.

The Q5 is long overdue for a refresh and I don’t find this comparison fair since the GLC was literally just refreshed.

GLC wins, in my opinion. Great review
I never buy new. So bargain for cheaper used.

The Q5 still carries the industrial approach, I would say. To me interiors are not a deal breaker, and the touch AC controls are a strict NO. So, I would pick the Q5.

Rented a2019 GLC300 w/AMg line package that was fun. But I bought a 2023 Q5 45 S Line The ride is so mich better and smoother. I think its because of multi link Front suspension . Rented a newer GLC again and yup cant compare the ride quality to Audi.

I like AJ’s reviews with a natural, straightforward approach but in this case I would take the Audi. The Mercedes is too flashy for me.

As a Mercedes and Audi lover I'll take the Q5! But I still love the GLC

Considering how old of a design and model the Q5 is, I would have expected a notable advantage for the GLC. Instead you are getting a minimal superiority, if any. For sure a moral victory for the Q5.

I just love the Q5 overall. The functional interior. Suttle exterior, the best engine and nice power on the upgraded electric motor. GLC too flashy for me

I have been searching for a car in this segment for a while now, so let me chime in a little.

Mercedes GLC, especially in hybrid form, is simply the best in this segment. Not that it is higher quality than its rivals (it isn’t) it is the only one with latest tech and only one that can deliver cars with latest tech without chip problems.

BUT the GLC prices dealers quote me are the same as BMW X5 hybrid prices. The X5 is unquestionably the better car. So the only remaining quality to the GLC is that it is smaller, which is a positive thing for some people.

Went with an XC60 instead. Costed 15+k less than the GLC :)

Had a q5, 40 tdi, 2022 - the car (brand new) was making a whistling sound when accelerating, so at around 2000rpms. It sounded as if someone was blowing air through a straw. Interestingly, the noise was more pronounced in the warmer weather and when the engine was warmed up. In Audi while acknowledging the unusual noise (it took a while), they could not find the reason why it was happening, as everything “seemed fine”. The same happened in a replacement car. I ended up selling it and going for another brand having driven Audi for the past 20 years 😢

Both are nice, but I would choose the BMW X3 30i

I drove several new mercedes and I just cant enjoy the infotainment system that they use.. It is so cumbersome that just connecting my phone by bluetooth was difficult, it just isnt intuitive, and the audi system is just straight to the point and easy to use. Besides that I dont like the screens just floating in the interior of the Mercedes

The Mercedes should be better considering it’s a brand new model and the Audi is at the end of its life cycle

The Mercedes looks great inside and out, but I would go for the Audi Q5. I like the more simple interior design with physical climate control buttons.
The Mercedes is just too pretentious looking on the inside.

One of the things I like least about Mercedes is all the "drooping" body lines, think the GLC is one of their better looking designs.

Hard plastics on lower part of doors are unacceptable, seems like every new generation is looking to be more cost efficent by removing higher quality materials here and there
