Idk where to start when it comes to this. I agree with you and cannot stand when I see people in comments saying they would never pay more than $70 for a set and they know a tech that does great work too for cheap. Many techs sadly let what the clients are willing to pay dictate their prices. A lot of techs are not getting paid what they deserve all because clients say they can go elsewhere for cheaper. It’s a luxury ! Yes some sets will be very expensive since and why can’t techs get their bag too! It would be dumb then to go into the nail tech business if you don’t profit. What would be the point of it or any job ??? Yes some things or all of it will be overpriced. That is the point of trying to make a living I hate seeing when techs are getting paid dirt low all because of clients and techs trying to compete with others in the area that charge less.

Possibly using mma monomer? I know that's how some non standard nails salons cut costs.

I think they also get payment from Walmart and it might be on a tipping bassis
