One of the coolest things about this song is that I have heard so many people have been able to conquer suicidal thoughts in the hearing of it.  That is really a blessing on this song.  If REM never did anything other than this song, it would have been more than enough for many.   Fantastic inspiration.

I love to see the physical changes to Michael Stipe down the years, as he metamorphosises from one person to another, in terms of physical appearance.

This early 90's Stipe soon after this would turn into the 'Grunge' era Stipe, as he had gone bald barely a year after this and that would coincide with their follow up to Automatic, in the form of the album 'Monster.' I wonder how much of that album they had made by this stage.

My cousin sadly is suffering from depression because of his new medication. If he listened to this song, it help him. Depression can lead to suicide. But for me, I'm usually stressed out but sometimes it leads to depression but I don't ever think of suicide at all. Because my faith in Christianity makes things better and my mom helps me.
