Run Forge Mods on Fabric in Minecraft with KiltMC (Experimental). This is a NEW Minecraft 1.21.1 video. In this video, I am going to show you a very cool and very experimental mod called KiltMC. KiltMC aims to be the opposite of the already-released Sinytra Connector Mod, which allows you to run Fabric mods on Forge. It allows you to run Forge mods on Fabric. And while it's still in early development and the majority of Mods, don't actually work yet. The project is up-and-coming and deserves some extra attention. It's very epic, fun, amazing and poggers! This will make playing Minecraft insane and amazing! Your players will absolutely love it! I had lots of laughs and fun. Hopefully, you'll get some useful information from this video. I love Minecraft fun!

Hey, I'm the lead (and pretty much only) developer and maintainer of Kilt, and I'd like to say thanks for making this video :]

I wrote a entire few paragraphs about Kilt's existence, but I accidentally hit the cancel button before I could copy it. _Why doesn't YouTube have a confirmation to cancel like Mobile does >:V_
I'm gonna rewrite parts of it, but it's not going to have the same points as it originally did unfortunately.

*If you're just gonna comment "not gonna read all that", stop right there. It's just not productive.*

I noticed people in the comments wondering why this exists if Connector already does, and why split the community further with Kilt and Connector existing.

This project started before Connector was even a thing. Kilt started on Dec 29th, 2022, whereas the main Connector project was from May 26th, 2023. However, I believe Connector was being worked on under a completely different name, called SteelwoolMC, it was way less popular, and was still in a broken state itself. The main reason why Kilt is so behind Connector is because of the sheer amount of work that needs to be done for Kilt to work. Connector has a lot of work itself, but Kilt has even more to do, especially for only one person. As of right now, Kilt is only about 39% done, having only reimplemented 257 out of the 660 patches within Forge.

But I don't believe the existence of both should split the community. The community is already really divided as-is (Forge, NeoForge, Fabric, Quilt), and what Kilt and Connector are intended to do is to bridge the modloaders together, allowing them to coexist. I believe both Kilt and Connector's devs are capable of working together to benefit each other. In fact, Kilt benefits from Connector's existence, as Kilt utilizes a library from Connector for remapping Forge mods. Some people like Forge, some people like Fabric. I'd rather people be capable of choosing, rather than only one existing over the other. My own reasoning behind disliking Forge is the dev experience with it, but NeoForge has improved on it slightly. Other devs might dislike Fabric because of them disliking its dev experience, and that's fine. Some people have their own preferences, some devs don't have time to learn a different mod loader, and that's perfectly fine. Choices exist for our preferences, while things like Kilt and Connector exist to allow stuff outside of our preferences to work within our preferences, or even the other way around. If it benefits everyone, I don't see why it shouldn't exist, or why only one has to exist.

A perfect example behind this thought process is the entire light/dark mode debate. Some people argue in favour of only dark mode, and some argue for only light mode. I used to be an "only dark mode" person myself. However, after becoming friends with someone who has really severe astigmatism to the point of migraines with dark mode, it has completely changed my worldview. They advocate for choices between the two, because they know that others experience the same thing they do but with light mode instead. I still prefer dark themes, but I'll still largely advocate for both themes to exist within a program, rather than only one over the other.

One of the owners of Kilt here. Fun fact, Mekanism partially works and is the main mod used for testing.

That’s so cool! I’m looking forward to using it when it is officially released

Imagine someone just making a *modloader* that supports both Forge and Fabric mods at the same time
Would be a dream.. 💖

Like if KiltMC and Sinytra Connector were to do a collaboration, it could lead to some wild stuff like this...

i kid you not....i was literally just talking to my friend about this, i was like "Ok there is a way to port fabric to forge....well kinda...is there another way around?" and not 5 mins goes by this video comes across (damn FBI agent working fast haha) Thank you Kasai you are a life saver for showing both these solutions!

Blu is super determined to make Kilt work!
And the more mods i ask him to port the more determined he is to get Kilt working hahaha.

I hope this goes far. Most of the intrusive mods that change tons of code and application behaviors are fabric only.

I have loved sinytra connector, as it allows me to use two of my favourite mods together - create (forge only) and betterend (fabric only).

I was brought to this vid looking for a solution to run conquest reforged in my sinytra connector modpack. Apparently it uses code for the gui that sinytra connector is having trouble even outputting a proper log error message. And its fabric only on the version I am running it on.

Hopefully kilt helps me *~*

the "Craftable Totems" "Mod" is just a Datapack... so its just 3 actual mods...

6:17 Kilt will probably have rope tied later on... good luck driving that though... But at least it won't fall apart...

As beneficial as this seems for the mod ecosystem, the point of Connector was to allow all mod developers to migrate to Fabric without worrying about leaving Forge users that can't switch yet behind. This mod is of course, awesome, and we should not prevent or discourage awesome things, but it is sad that this will likely stall the migration to Fabric again. What's worse is that this mod should introduce at least some of, likely most of, the performance cost of Forge on top of Fabric and if KiltMC is accepted as a long term solution it will deprive Fabric of it's biggest selling point, even further staling the migration

I have high hopes for this project. If at any point Casinocraft starts working fully on it, I’m sold.

Sodium is currently avaliable on NeoForge! (Starting from Sodium 6.0. It is in Beta, but it also doesn't require Indium where it used to be required)

It's technically impressive and cool but I do have to agree with "why are you doing this"

Fabric is just objective the better mod loader. At least for modern versions.

The BG music is taking a new nice direction 👍

You forgot to mention the performance impact. Forge is known for having a gigantic performance hit.

Running this on fabric sounds like it'll become an optimization mod at some point

time to put kilt in my fabric instance so i can put sinytra connector as well

Imagine you have, in a day, a new mod loader created from forge and fabric code, that extend these 2, is more modular and run forge and fabric mods!

So I kind of had this idea…
But I’m lazy so I like that someone decided to do it
