I'm in Brighton, UK now, but I see the drinking culture one. When I was in Australia, drinking or partying was a lot more intense. In the UK, going out to a pub and drinking with some friends is somewhat similar to the izakaya style.

I've noticed the fact that both UK and JP have a literature tradition of significant level, therefore people have some great abilities to comprehend the depth of human psychology.

For many years in Japan, horse handlers walked on the left side of the horse. Right hands were often called "bridle hands" then. Horses were tied to the hitching posts on their left side. Also in the old days, in places where a large crowd gathered, people walked on the left side, perhaps to avoid swords (always worn on the left side of the body) touching each other when they pass. I think driving on the left side naturally evolved in Japan. Trains in Japan also run on the left side, and that's because the railroad system was imported from the UK.

True many commons! At my first visit to UK, I flew to London from NYC. So I got nicely shocked British people were very indirect and gentle like us, Japanese, compared to very direct and harsh people in US ... sorry. I love beer and London pub, too ♡ I used to dislike Japanese beer but British beer waked me up to be a beer lover. Thanks!

Yes, you're completely right, Squishy.
I agree with you, especially about gardens.
I have fell in love with English gardens for a long time.
They inspire me with the world of fairy tales.
When I was a child, one of my favorite books was "Tom's Midnight Garden."
If I lived and stayed in such beautiful garden with various spirits roaming,
I could write the most exquisite masterpieces.

In comparison with British ones, I can't appreciate French gardens.
From those thoroughly artificial and geometric construction,
I only feel the ideas of authority, intimidating powers emanating from absolutism.
That may be the reason, I feel more affection toward British people than French.

I’m enjoying your channel very very much. I like your pronunciation, the way you speak. Your facial expression seems to me to be typical British. I like your channel partly because the content is not low, not indecent, but purely funny and a bit cultural. Moreover Taro plays a good role. His English is perfect as well. Looking forward to a next one. A 60 yr old man in Aomori.
