Alcohol consumption and dependence: The role of pharmacists in prevention, support and management

Worldwide, around 2.6 million deaths were caused by alcohol consumption in 2019, with 1.6 million of these resulting from non-communicable diseases (NCDs), according to the WHO. This webinar explores the burden of alcohol consumption and the complex relationship between alcohol addiction and various diseases, including NCDs, emphasising the importance of early intervention, support, and effective management strategies. Attendees will learn about the WHO SAFER initiative and how pharmacists can play a crucial role in prevention, support, and management efforts, collaborating with healthcare teams to improve patient outcomes and reduce alcohol-related health risks.
