Xiaomi 12 IN-DEPTH Review // One Month Later!

The Xiaomi 12 has some stiff competition at its price point. So, after using it for over a month, I feel like I have a pretty good idea of where this phone sits.

Enjoy!

Dude, really nice of you to include a section where you explain how to disable OS ads. Gotta love how most reviewers just say "It has ads, but you can disable them!" and keep going with the review, in the meantime my mother has had a Redmi 7 with constant apps cluttering the UI. Kudos for that!!

Great To See Someone Cover Underated Devices Most Of The Reviews On YouTube Are About The Pro And Its Good To See Someone Cover The Base Model

I do like the 12 alot, because while most people are still talking about the 12 Pro and stuff, i just love the size of the regular 12. Very small and compact, yet very advanced package.

6:31 there's an easy way...just click on settings icon at the top right corner & disable "scan before installing" from there..
Btw great review as always ♥️♥️♥️

I know the feel. I just sold my iPhone 11 a couple of weeks ago and wanted to go for Android and my options were the S22, Xiaomi 12 and the Pixel 6. I've always used Xiaomi phones and for me the experience has been great, but for the price. This phone having good software but with those annoying flaws, having no IP68, average to bad battery life, and no telephoto just didn't make sense. I went for the pixel because it honestly feels like great value even if it doesn't have the best performance or display, but it is the one that has the least flaws.

Good to hear a reviewer talk about software and UI foibles.
Two days in with MIUI 13 on the 11T Pro...
Mostly pretty good 👍 w/ the odd qwerk here and there.
Somethings are bloody awesome though.
The ability to run any font you like, is fantastic!! (*Doesn't change in Google feeds nor Message app!?)
Think I'll get the grrsss out for the not being able to share content as a text link. 🤨
PS - did you root the 12??

It seems like I'm the only one. But I love MIUI it is my favorite android skin and it is a big advantage to me for phones

I got the 12x 256GB for $544 instead of the 12 due the price difference of ~$270, no wireless charging and 870 snapdragon instead of 8 gen 1 and 960 fps slow motion instead of 1920 fps (interpolated 720p) and a few gimmicks.
Moving from a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 3GB RAM 32GB (~$175) this has been a breath of life, wow. This is a great phone for light users like me that want a smooth and snappy experience, perhaps Sam can make a comparison video.

I stopped recommending any Xiaomi device some years ago, MIUI being the sole reason. There isnt a single Xiaomi device that gives a pleasant software experience for the users, and for me, without a decent software, nothing else matters. I dont care about the hardware, cameras or display if the software or the battery are sub-par.

I'm using the Xiaomi12 on China Rom but with Google services installed, often get through the day with still around 30-40% of battery life left. The fast charging is awesome!!

Great video! 🙌

The notifications disappearing after you unlock the phone is super annoying. Notification management are why I use android!

I also have a Mi 11 Lite 5G that I bought last year August, and with this phone, my experience has been very similiar to yours. I think the reason why these phones aren't as good as they could be is because of the software

I've had this phone for well over a year (nearly 2). I got it for 430€.
Battery life is ok (lasts me a day, but with decent/heavy use does need a charge before bedtime), software is good honestly (running latest android and HyperOS right now)
Camera is good (comparable to the newest flagships when using the main lens), and for video if you know what you're doing with pro mode, your footage will look better than the newest iPhones (also supports LOG)
Speakers are good (better than any samsung S-series phone, including S24U honestly) but not as good as you'd find on new iPhones and ROG/gaming phones.
Screen is good except it just doesn't get bright enough, for a 2021(22) flagship I'd hope for 1000nits+ but it just doesn't have it. It's unfortunate (or fortunate?) to see midrangers today doing 1500 w/ HBM whilst I'm sitting at 800-900 with a "flagship" phone. Other than the 120Hz, the screen hasn't felt much of an upgrade from a midrange 2019 Mi 9T. Also the fact that manual brightness maxes out at 500 is embarrassing and way too common. Also it not getting dim enough is also somewhat of a problem.

I do have to say that out of the box, when it was on MIUI 13, it was extremely buggy and also had ads (had to disable them). It was also overheating and the battery life was horrendous, worse than a bigger Mi 9T (9T also has a smaller battery). But after the updates it has improved a lot.

I feel like for the price I got it for (and it stayed at it for a year), even now, it'd beat almost every if not every phone in the 300-450€ price bracket, so I'm happy.
