Both the Paul Gauguin and Oceania cruise lines provide nice metal water bottles for cruisers to fill and take with them on land excursions, (then they are yours to take home). They also fill glass bottles that remain in your stateroom/suite daily. I like this, no plastic waste.

What a great way to provide first hand information - nothing more nothing less. To the point, short, informative - that's what a great channels does. I am so tired of all these "cruise and global travel" vlogs - selfies of me - on this beach - here is my butt on a chair on that island etc.
Thank you!

For water bottle filling, most cruise ships don't allow you to fill a reusable water bottle through the opening that you drink from. If it has a screw-off drinking spout, you can fill it with that removed. But, understandably, they don't want a part of the bottle that is in contact with your mouth up at the fill spigot.

The novel, "The Accidental Tourist", has a classic line, "Do not take anything on a trip you cannot afford to lose?". Leave your valuables at home or in the Room Safe.

One of my must-have cruise items is a small funnel. This is great for filling our water bottles. We have the cabin steward keep ice in our room, then use the funnel to a) scoop ice into our drinks and b) strain ice water into our bottles.

It is frowned upon to fill your own water bottle directly from filtered spigot if that makes sense. Better to fill glass and pour into bottle to avoid transferring germs

I bring my reusable water bottle with us and filled it up in the cabin before each of our excursions my ice bucket was melted in the morning and was nice and cool so I'd sometimes put in a tea bag I brought on board too it was great having something flavorful to sip on without having to purchase the drink package

I purchased the non surge protector that you have listen. It was confiscated on a Disney cruise. They don’t allow any power strips. Guest Services will provide you with one if needed for medical equipment. Also, spray suntan lotion was banned on a snorkeling excursion in Tortola BVI. They said that the spray makes the boat slippery and could cause accidents.

Great info. Thank you. Oh, you forgot Irons or steamers for clothes 😒. Which is stupid since a lot of shops don't have laundry rooms. Everyone can't afford the ship cleaners.

For filling water bottles in the past-we've just filled a couple of cups with water at the buffet or requested extra water at a meal and then poured them into our bottles at the table. You get ice and water that way. If your bottle is insulated, you have cold water all day and night. This is especially helpful if you have kids, for taking medications, on excursion days and the in-between times when you don't want to walk a mile or order room service just for a sip of water. I suggest a refillable bottle with a wide mouth for this purpose.

Funny you mentioned Carnival. I've cruised Carnival, Royal Caribbean, NCL and HAL. Carnival is the only line on which I have smelled pot on board. AND it happens pretty much every single cruise with them. I suspect it is the 'Party' atmosphere that is promoted by Carnival.

I went on a cruise where the guy in front of me in the check in line had a small pocket knife confiscated (then they give you a big steak knife in the dining room!!!)
