If anybody is thinking of attempting this at home be warned, it is not for the faint of heart. I have been wrenching on my own vehicles for over 20 years and have never dealt with such a pain in the ass strut assembly. Mine was on a 2017 Honda pilot touring but it’s basically all the same bullshit for this accord too. I couldn’t get the bottom control arm off to save my life and I even have the fancy tools. Took me 6 hours just to get 1 side off. Blew my mind. Hands down those are some of the hardest struts I’ve ever dealt with. Normally it’s a couple bolts and it’s out. Instead Honda decided to completely change the suspensions on the 16+ pilots (prior year pilot was substantially easier to change struts out it only took me 4 hours) and 13+ Accords they did too.

Great video. It's much easier to just remove the knuckle than to try and pry down the arm and remove the strut.

Those rotor screws are NOT Phillips head. They are actually JIS (Japanese industrial standard) #3 screws. Using a Phillips head will do nothing but strip those JIS #3 screws. Use a Vessel #3 impact screw driver to remove them. Put Permatex anti seize on those screws before reinserting them.

If you go to torque a nut with a torque wrench but get a click or beep before the nut even turns, you already have it too tight. Be careful to not over tighten as you "snug it down" when making up the nut.

Do not cut the sensor, it will never come out on its own, remove the clip and leave the sensor alone unless you really want to get a headache.... Ive been there just saying

40 minutes if the vehicle is new. 6 hours with some extra new parts (abs sensor, sway bar links) from things being rusted/seized if it's a 2014 like mine. To start, break the axel nut loose BEFORE you even jack it up.
Get the ball joint separator or mayybe a pickle fork, mine was a stage 5 clinger. Rent it from auto store. The next biggest pain was the sway bar link for me, skinny round part under the boot didn't want to stay clamped and the nut/bolt was rusted. Pb blaster, brake cleaner, torch. Too much nuance bs that adds up. Basically never want to change my own struts again 😂 Cars are designed for consumers to take them to shops. Likely be at it again after seeing their "estimate" though

Oh hell no. There’s a reason I’m already trying to get rid of my accord. Hondas are great but they’re hard to work on. Especially the suspension parts like these.

On my Nissan it takes me 15-20 minutes to change out struts. This is horrible engineering for Honda 😂😂😂😂
