TIDEPOOL Fishing: Catch, COOK, and EAT on the rocks!! ***Low Tide Adventure***

Catch and cook Lingcod/Cabezon on the rocks!

In this video, I show you how to catch, fillet, and cook fish on the beach.

We went out on a -1.3 foot low tide today. This means that we were fishing the spots that usually aren’t accessible from land or boat. There were awesome tide pools everywhere that we caught some really nice fish in. We then cooked the fish on the rocks. I made rice with avocado, cucumber, lemon and fish. The fish was cooked in garlic, ginger, sesame oil, mirin, fish sauce, and teriyaki sauce. I blanched this fish prior to cooking it to get rid of the fluids and slime inside the skin that taste fishy.

We used poke poles as well as swimbaits during a low tide to target these fish. We tried catching eels (Monkeyface Eel) but didn’t get one. We caught some Grassy rockfish, black rockfish, cabezon, and lingcod today. Cabezon are tasty. These venomous blue fish have crablike meat that is very sweet and flavorful. I used my 7 foot Fenwick HMX rod with an Abu Garcia promax reel. On the poke poke we used squid which worked pretty well. The swimbaits were also deadly.
