The Marfa Lights in Marfa, Texas is one of the greatest mysteries in Texas! It's definitely one of the top things to do in Marfa, TX.

These mystery lights have been making scientists scratch their heads since they first popped up in the 1880s -- way before cars were invented. And everyone has their own guess as to what these strange orbs floating on the horizon might be: ghosts, aliens, headlights, some sort of scientific oddity. But whatever they may be, they're a sight you have to see when you're way out in West Texas!

What do you think the Marfa Lights are?

I worked near there back in 1965-1966. I was working on the newer dome at the Univ. Texas Observatory. On Friday or Saturday nights, we would cruise from Ft. Davis to Marfa for entertainment. The Sul Ross College was there.(Female) After we met some locals, they asked us if we wanted to go watch the Marfa lights. We being guys and them being not-guys, we said, "sure!" They took us on the highway east of town to an unmarked (then) turn off. It was dark, quiet, isolated, we didn't have a flash light. Luckily they had some blankets and we didn't need flashlights. Did I mention it was dark? Truthfully, that trip I didn't see too much. But a few weeks later we came back with binocks and chairs to get some observing in. Oh yes, there some strange things in the sky. Medium height, not too close. That is my experience at the famous Marfa Lights. Years later....like 45 or so, I looked on Google Earth for that place. Yep, it was still there. But the area where we saw the lights used to be a WW2 Army Airfield. A big one. Coincidence? Maybe.

What's weird about your video is that the approaching light at the end is exactly what I experienced on one of my trips to the Marfa Mystery Lights viewing station. I was mostly there to find pocket mice and kangaroo rats, but on one occasion, a "Marfa light" approached the viewing station extremely closely. My girlfriend decided to approach it in return as I remained stationary. She claimed that as she approached the light's apparent location, it appeared to remain at a fixed distance from her despite her approach, while the light appeared to take up a stationary location in front of the fence to the adjoining ranch property from my perspective.

So, it was weird to see this particular footage filmed as a joke since it closely mirrored my personal experience with the lights.

I wouldn't have been as interested in this type of phenomenon had I not experienced it elsewhere in Texas. I have experienced what appeared to be the exact same phenomenon in South Texas as well while driving dirt roads in a wildlife management area.

The night that many night vision drones are used with monitor locations at the viewing site, US 67, and between them simultaneously, the mystery will be solved and the tourism will be gone. But the city won't allow such a study.

Definitely worth the drive. Don't know what I expected, but they are mysterious. When I saw them, many of them bounced/danced, but mainly stayed in their 'area.' No more than seven, beautiful colors. They looked, um, happy.

Why don't people just go over there to see what they are???

We are not going to have all of that going on with all of you in places. People need to find out more about all of this. If you have a Passport you have international property and they are identical cities. We need to start getting people to assist in locating each other...even fax every once in a while.

My explanation, probably some natural phenomena that has yet to be explained and future scientists will solve the mystery thanks to advanced science or knowledge that we don't know yet.

Other than that, I don't know. The ghost of the Aurora TX Alien crash??

I’ve seen them twice - both times that I went and there were a lot of them. You need to try again. I think God puts them there to mess with science! Lol
