Tools fo days.

Wish they had more time to talk about the new Data Binding. New Layout and Theme Editors looks great though. Definitely will attract some new developers.

What I wish for is coding while you test on simulator or device. That's what I loved on Basic4Android.

Some of these things are really nice. But I don't get how they get the speed they are advertising.

I mean look at 20:44 that search and refactor is running like 4 times faster on that Mac laptop then on my desktop with i7, ssd and 12gb of ram with Windows.
On that same computer Visual Studio, even the free version runs similar search across a source of UnrealEngine (which is really massive) much faster. Also starting Android studio is really slow while Visual studio starts almost instantly.
I also know people running Linux on laptops with i5 who don't get that kind of speed with android studio.
Is this showing that android studio is optimized for Mac OS or some problems with our configurations?

Also those gradle numbers seem really far from what I get (again both on Windows with i5, i7, Linux and even Mac OS). It takes around 9 seconds to just run gradle help on my project with 14 modules in which one of them has 10 flavors. It takes 8 seconds to run help on project with 3 modules without any flavors. Also on that same project building only single module in Debug configuration with an app in it takes 15 seconds from console and 7 from Android Studio. Why is this different?

I don't think speed they are showing is fake advertising but there are some details they are not telling us about on how to get that kind of performance because in my experience all those numbers are 5-10 times larger .

To me this is a joke. Why already create/develop new features that change how we do things when what we have now is still way too buggy? Android Studio as an IDE still has a lot to evolve and also the emulators which for me are getting worst/buggier with each update.

If you are still not using Android Studio, you should really switch now.. Look at all this..

If you are a developer for another platform, please don't watch.. You'll just be jealous..
