That's the hard thing about influencers being vegan. I never put much faith in them because I don't trust them to keep in mind why they're doing what they're doing. I expect them to turn their backs on the animals because they don't actually care enough. 😮‍💨 Wish I didn't feel that way but I do. I know I would never go back and I can't understand someone who does.

Like many of you, this has been the most disappointing turnaround to me. I know some of you saw it coming but I was completely blindsided. He was such a phenomenal advocate that it just really beggars belief. I'm hoping he's just in a phase with some particular struggles and will come through it.

It is horrible. As someone with bipolar disorder with psychotic tendencies, I’ve been told I should eat keto as there is evidence that this helps with both. But I couldn’t get eating animals over my heart. I ate one bowl of yoghurt and I needed to cry for the hurt it caused the animals. I reached out to Catherine Klein and she told me to get a second opinion. I did and now I’m mentally healthy again with a plant based EPA oil supplement. In the end, no animal needed to suffer anymore. There are many options that are plant based/ vegan out there if you have the right dietician, doctors and psychiatrists!

How the heck did Alex manage to get so confused on something like this from a logical and ethical perspective?!?! I just don't get it!

Yes, being vegan is a moral position, just like any other philosophical positions out there. However, being vegan is not an exception so that you can no longer change your position. Every philosophical position are subject to change in light of recent discoveries, new arguments and rationality. A person like Alex, who is rational, will and can change his position on just about anything even being an atheist.

A new follower here. It must be very disappointing for Alex to see how passionately he defended animals and now he is an opresor of them. Too bad he didn’t keep searching for a solution to his health problem with professionals and gave up. 😢

I was completely perplexed when I saw this news. You're right, it doesn't follow the usual formula, and thus potentially holds more weight to his followers because of that. I got to thinking about it and can't help but wonder if someone within the animal abuse industries selected him specifically and paid him to make this announcement. It would have been a strategic marketing move on their part. Not that this pardons what he posted, but it would explain the complete 180. Otherwise I am truly baffled.

Hey lovely couple it’s me again. It’s now over 3 1/2 yrs being Vegan. I can’t even imagine eating anything to do with the horrific living conditions of animals. Breaks my heart

This is one reason why it’s so important to me to remind myself why I’m vegan. This is why I watch your videos, Bite Size Vegan’s videos, and other vegan channels. I’ve been vegan for five years and have no plans (or reasons) to go back to supporting animal exploitation, but being the odd one out, surrounded mostly by carnists on all sides, it’s easy to lose perspective. We’re social creatures, after all, and tend to want to do as others do. It can be challenging to be vegan under such circumstances, so it’s important to remember what’s at stake.

Also soooo over people "struggling" on a plant-based diet. I've been vegan 15 years - no supplements or medications, no deficiencies. Only health and fitness improvement. It's not a struggle unless you're incompetent

I think he was paid to go this way. Or thinks the lion diet girl is going to like him. Ether way, I never watch his videos. I didn’t think he was a true vegan. Some of his beliefs did not fit his reasoning.

I also see the same on Dr. Abby, and Vegan Gains. None I watch ether.

Does he live with his mom and his mom is doing all the cooking? This just sounds like laziness to me.

His convictions about what he has said about animals make the only plausible reasons for his change of mind are most likely financial. he has been told, 'look, you are young enough to reject veganism and pass it off as a phase you were going through, you are a rising star in the philosophy world this veganism sruff is holding you back from becoming bigger'

Just one of a couple very possible scenarios

I had never considered the difference between welfare/suffering Vs rights... Very interesting

I'm not advocating for hunting, I think it is the most ethical to not eat animals at all since we don't have to survive and thrive. However I think factory farming is way worse because animals at least in the wild have a chance, all animals in the wild evolve to either to escape, hide or have some defence towards predators and predators evolve to better catch and so on. In the wild the animal can still win over the human hunter because they are alloweed to evolve in the wild to better escape.

However when humans catch animals and breed they deevolve for human benefit, deprive them from freedom. It's utter horrible what humans have done. If at least the humans that bully vegans and can never go vegan because of lack of empathy then at least could hunt for their meat I'm 100 % positive they would be way less animals killed, I don't think they would indeed have the energy to hunt the animals to eat as much meat as they do now. So my point it would at least be an improvement.

Knowing the people I know I have a hard time to believe that humanity will go vegan during my life time.. most of the people I know are hostile, I don't want to be around humans much because of this. I think hostility towards humans is linked to hostility towards animals, because they discriminate animals, they bully animals and they do bully those who refuse to participate in their discramatory bully behaviour.

He's got a medical and ? mental issue and has a feeling the vegan diet makes him worse. I'm not sure it's right for us to tell him "your medical condition isn't related to veganism." He's got to decide that himself with his doctors. He really hasn't come out and said "my ethical arguments for veganism were wrong." We can hope he'll come back to veganism.
