Secret Service director resigns after assassination attempt against former President Trump

Kimberly Cheatle, who had served as Secret Service director since August 2022, had been facing growing calls to resign and several investigations into how the shooter was able to get so close to the Republican presidential nominee at an outdoor campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

I have a question I haven’t heard anyone ask yet.
Why did they kill the shooter?
Seems to me it would have been beneficial to have him alive and it was only one shooter against how many officers? Yeah that’s fishy in itself.
