'Banning the AR-15' is one of the dumbest things you can say. That's what you say when you have zero clue about guns. What part of the 'AR-15' do they want banned? The round, the bolt carrier, the gas system, the whole operating system? Every single part of the 'AR-15' has been redesigned by a multitude of companies. Even the round it fires has a huge variety of variations. The notion you will be able to 'ban the AR-15' is ridiculous and doesn't make any sense. Republicans also aren't under the control of Trump either. If you actually study the party, the Republican party has disagreements all the time and the core values they believe in are what binds the party together. Whereas if you study the Democrat party, it's highly fractured into as many factions as there are 'AR-15's'. The Republican party is based in core values, whereas the Democrat party is based on loose ideology. They also changed the rules to make Biden the nominee, and then when it looked like he was going to lose and bring the other 2 houses down as well, they forced him out and placed Kamala in his stead. If there was a party that is an actual 'threat to democracy', it's what the Democrat party did to the president. He won the delegates and he was the candidate and he was kicked out, subverting the rules that were put in place specifically for him.

The type of weapon used in this incident isnt the issue. And honestly, if a bolt action deer rifle had been used, things could have been even worse. They are slower firing than a semi- auto, but most fire a much more powerful round, are more accurate and are effective at much longer ranges.
