I don't know who's playing Rafiki but his voice is an astounding replica of the original.

Loved the movie. I really like scar and Mufasa’s bond before “the incident”, and I really hoped Taka wouldn’t be the one to turn into Scar. They had a beautiful bond, and also, if you’ve watched the Lion Guard, it said Scar got his Scar from a cobra, not a lion. I hope in future movies (if there are any) they can do some voodoo magic or something to bring the two back to life, and remaking their brother bonds.

I hear a younger Robert Guillaume in this vocal performance. Very nicely done by Kagiso Lediga. Rafiki is my favorite character in the entire Lion King franchise, and this is a good indicator he's going to continue to be.

Fun fact: lions live 10-14 yrs meanwhile baboons live 20-30yrs. That could be the reason why rafiki lived way longer then Mufasa, simba, and even Kiara in lion king 2.

TV-Tropes explains this scene best: “Rafiki’s fearlessness when he meets Mufasa, Taka, and Sarabi. The starving lions see him as potential prey and try their best to intimidate the tranquil primate but he remains indifferent to their threats, leaving the three completely baffled.”

Rafiki is pretty calm for a guy with a Lion fantom tasting his innards pacing just behind. Taka was looking like he was going to attack pretty much the whole time.
First Sarabi cuts him off then Mufasa blocks him....
