Discover the journey that forged a kingdom.

Watch the new trailer for #Mufasa: The Lion King and see the movie only in theaters December 20.

Exploring the unlikely rise of the beloved king of the Pride Lands, “Mufasa: The Lion King” enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka—the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny—their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe. The film features an all-star roster of talent, including Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., John Kani, Tiffany Boone, Kagiso Lediga, Preston Nyman, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, Anika Noni Rose, Keith David, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Donald Glover, Blue Ivy Carter, Braelyn Rankins, Theo Somolu, Folake Olowofoyeku, Joanna Jones, Thuso Mbedu, Sheila Atim, Abdul Salis, Dominique Jennings and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. Blending live-action filmmaking techniques with photoreal computer-generated imagery, the all-new feature film is directed by Barry Jenkins, produced by Adele Romanski & Mark Ceryak, and executive produced by Peter Tobyansen. Featuring songs by award-winning songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda, “Mufasa: The Lion King” opens only in theaters on Dec. 20, 2024.

In loving memory of James Earl Jones

I do think this looks more promising than the first one. The animals actually show emotions this time.

Rip James Earl Jones you’ll forever be missed as Mufasa. Thank you so much for bringing Mufasa’s voice to life for us. I can’t wait to see this movie.

Scar one mistake but saved Mufasa's life three times. However, it was Mufasa who betrayed first. Scar being cowardly, Mufasa being lucky, and love ruining brotherhood… I watched it in the cinema; it’s a very beautiful movie, and I highly recommend it.

What I find so amazing about these classic movies like The Lion King is how popular they remain long after they first came out! The Lion King came out 30 years ago and its popularity has only grown since then! It's hard to find people who don't recognize the scene of Rafiki holding up Simba or the phrase Hakuna Matata. Even people born long after The Lion King first came out are familiar with scenes and songs from the movie! Safe to say that anything associated with The Lion King is gonna be big!

I hope when the movie’s over they do “In Memory of James Earl Jones” like they did for other celebrities that passed away.

James Earl Jones, Your Legacy (Like Mufasa's) will NEVER be Forgotten!

Is it just me or does anyone else see Taka/Scar’s villainess side slowly coming in right after he said “Wonderful. Another we’re not supposed to eat.”
Think about it. Cause in the 2019 Lion King remake when Scar formed an alliance with the hyenas, he said and I quote; “Mufasa has always shown too much restraint when it comes to hunting. When I am king, the mighty will be free to take whatever they want.”

Wow! Finally, not just a retelling with different versions (e.g. cartoon, live action, 3D animation...etc), but a different story!

How old is Rafiki? He's the Morgan Freeman of the jungle. The circle of life has nothing on him.

The main reason I'm going to see this movie, in addition to being a huge Lion King fan, is to honor James Earl Jones, the original voice of Mufasa, who sadly passed away earlier this year. That said, I do like how they're trying to show more emotive facial expressions on the characters, it's nice to see Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as Timon and Pumbaa again, and Zazu...oh, Zazu, even before you had to look after Simba, I can tell you still went through so much crazy stuff all in the line of duty. I commend you, man!

It’s just I feel so emotional that James Earl Jones passed and it doesn’t feel the same with The Lion King. 💔😔 RIP James. You were my favorite voice actor growing up. 🕊️

Omg this trailer is so good, especially when shadow was about to hit sonic at the end, and shadow and Maria running from a G.U.N agents, and shadow yelling Maria! Like omg this was so good.

Scar's line from the 2019 film, "This is my kingdom! My Destiny!" hits so much more now

I love that Rafiki is a prominent character in this. It’s so fun to him in action rather than spending all his time in a tree.

This we’ll be refreshing to see. A brand new story. The last Lion King was just a remake from the cartoon movie in 95. Rest In Peace to the Great James Earl Jones.

I never knew that Scar was the rightful heir to the throne by bloodline, now I understand why he was so obsessed with taking back the throne and becoming king.
