You know what would be very interesting? If during the journey, while Mufasa would remain more level-headed with the decision-making, whereas Scar let both his position as future king and the pain of losing his parents to Kiros (the white lion) go to his head, causing him to make rash decisions. This would work because one, it would make sense in terms of both their characters, two, it would make good tension, and three, it could make Scar a dark parallel to Simba, showing what he would end up as if he never came to terms with his loss.

I think the theme of this film will be that leaders aren't born. They're made and we're going to see that Taka just doesn't have the qualities or traits to be a ruler. He gives off the vibes of somebody born into privilege and entitlement and never really having to earn or struggle for what they have.

from all the trailers personally i think what happens is that scar either just gives up/runs away or sides with the white lions to save himself while mufasa is still determined to fight which is where he gathers up all the other animals seen in the trailer to fight together. after getting rid of the white lions most of the animals likely view scar as cowardly/selfish for running away/trying to save only himself and not fit to lead which is why mufasa ends up the king, because the animals only will acknowledge mufasa because he stayed and fought for them
