E-Bikes And E-Scooters Legalized In New York

Ebikes should be legal everywhere. Drive should be more alert and treat them as pedestrians and bicyclists. I'm 72 and ride my ebike everywhere and it is dangerous because of inattentive drivers. Not the reason to make ebike illegal. Write a ticket for the autodrive not having complete control of their vertical at all times.

Any bicycle will go 20 mph. Therefore these are no more dangerous than any other bike.

Upstate folks have being waiting for legalized ebikes for years. We're tired of being held hostage by NYC issues. We want to be able to legally ride on rural roads. Bikes don't belong on sidewalks (not that we have them). Most cyclists up here wear helmets. You're a fool not to wear one.

Here in the netherlands ebikes and scooters are legal rules: ebikes/scooters max speed of 30km/h, no calling, booth hands on steer, lights, and use bike lanes no sidewalk, and for 45 km/h bikes no scooters only bikes you need a drivers license and a helmet

Ain't nothing dangerous about a slow moving bike or scooter on a sidewalk 😂. So many people "almost get hit" while vehicles actually killing people. And the same people "almost getting hit" are the same people texting while crossing and walking straight in the bike line. But the fact delivery guys cant use Hudson river greenway is ridiculous, say goodbye to Express deliveries to residents that need the greenway to hand deliver their food. You'll have alot of guys rejecting orders requiring the greenway.

MAKE IT SO THAT PEOPLE CAN GO AT ANY SPEED, AND MAKE IT SO THAT ANYBODY AT ANY AGE CAN RIDE THEM, INCLUDING ME...I'm only 14, BUT ALL IT IS IS A BIKE THAT JUST GOES A LITTLE FASTER THAN MOST OTHER BIKES... LIKE...damn guys...change the damn rules. Just have the rules go like this, class 3 bikes are both street/sidewalk legal and you have to be over the age of 10, PLEASE MAKE IT THAT.

Why can't New York City just designate these E-Scooters & E-Bikes as Electric Motorcycles? I think it would take a lot of the red tape away & we would have a basic understanding of what these vehicles are under current department of transportation law. Am I missing something here?
