This is happening at my employer and it is not a small employer.
They are hiring loads of fresh migrants while skipping over actual Canadians.
We make over 55K a year, so god knows what they are paying to get these jobs.

They even discriminate against immigrants who have been here for decades and have successfully integrated into Canadian society. Those of us who grew up here, ditched our accents, and have learned to play the game are considered just as “white” as Anglo-Canadians. We also encounter hostility from the more recent arrivals.

This country is fucked. I was born here followed the 'system' I worked since 15, graduated 4 times because in my head at the time I thought I would land a really good job. Currently 35, my position just ended as it was a contract and I am out of a job, no job lined up, no hope of owning a home or starting a family...wtf...

This has been happening for decades. Usually being done by business owners who are from foreign countries. As a Canadian single mother (with University degree) in the 80's and 90's found that many jobs advertised were actually a scam to Canadians and were meant for this purpose.

As a newcomer, I can confirm that Russell telling the truth and this happen long times.
They also selling a fake income by paid amount of money, and the employer pay back to them by month. So they can have a large mortgage base on the fake income.

Someone I know came here as a visitor over a year ago, he claimed refugee status after staying 3 months and he made $ 200.000 in 1 year working as a subcontractor. This person has many assets and a good retirement salary in his home country.

For over many years the manager of a franchise eg fast food other low pay jobs seems to be of the same nationality as all their workers. There is nothing fair about the hiring practices in Ontario.

I have recently gotten back in the job market (born and bred Canadian) and I know this is happening, I had a suspicion as I didn't understand why I wasn't being given the chance to advance then I listened and am 95% sure this is what is going on....good to know but how do I handle it?
